PETITIONER REQUESTS: A special permit and/or variance.under • sections 202.5, P10 to allow to replace an existing salt shed (600 square feet) with a new salt shed (1,680 square feet). The petition requests permission to construct a storage shed ( metal framed building ) for the storage•of road salt. The building will be located adjacent to the existing road-sand storage building, and will be approximately 150'. back from Buck Island Road, and approximately 90' from the rear lot line. The lot comprises approximately 4.2 acres (per the Assessor's plan) and is located within the R-25 Zone. The closest abutting property, to the South, is also Town of Yarmouth land. The site is developed and used for various Municipal uses (P-10), which is a use allowed by special permit in this Zone. Several residents of the near-by Buck Island Village appeared at the hearing. They presented questions, relating principally to the proposed salt run-off or leaching into the nearby wetlands. Mr. Nixon explained that the building will' have an impervious floor (of concrete or macadam) without floor drains, so that the salt could not enter the ground under the building. In addition, he explained that the area in front of, the storage buildings, where the salt and sand are mixed, are likewise paved for the same reasons. • • • „ • • The Board as satisfied that this use nay be made of the site, without • causing ay undue nuisance, hazard or congestion, and without causing any substantiarharm to the established or future character of this neighborhood: I JtA -"Y Accordingly, a Motion was made by Mr. Lindquist, duly seconded by Mr. Tuttle, to grant so much of the petitionas seeks a special permit for the construction of this additional storage building; as shown • . on the petitioner's plans filed with this petition (with revision date of 4/26/93), for the Use as represented by the petitioner.
