The purpose of the Site Observation Report is to record general observations of the work in progress at the time of the Architect’s visit.
WORK IN PROGRESS:
1) Ongoing underground plumbing work in Area D.
2) Excavation and subgrade prepping for foundations in Area A and Area B (simultaneously).
3) Preparation for concrete placement in Area B.
4) Completing underground infiltration structure no. 2
5) Electrical tie-in at transformer pad by Anesse.
6) Layout work for parking lot striping
FIELD OBSERVATIONS:
PE visited the site to review ongoing progress with the site work and foundation work.
1. RBO is preparing the subgrade for the foundation for the double slab at the underfloor HVAC ductwork in the
lower orchestra area of the auditorium, including the haunched footings for the block walls that support the floor
slab (see photo, and see also GPI reports for 8/18 and 8/19). Since the last PE report RBO completed prepping
wall footings on lines W/A.15 (music wing) and interior column footings in the same general area.
2. RBO is completing the placement of the cultec structures at the underground infiltration structure no. 2.
3. RBO has placed asphalt at the east access road, the utility corridor next to the administration building, and at the
main parking area (see photos).
4. Underground plumbing work is in progress at Area D, with underground electrical work to follow immediately
behind (see photo).
5. Building D foundation wall damp-proofing is completed; placement of foundation insulation is scheduled to begin
next week according to Commodore.
6. Area C foundations have been placed, minus a few piers in the center.
7. Marguerite is tying rebar and making other Area B wall placement preparations on lines B2.4/B2.5 and P.1, as
well as at the future perimeter along lines P.6/P.9 and a3.2/b3.2. (i.e. at the south and east walls of the main gym
and at the ancillary area to the south of the gym).
8. Brennan is Installing controls at Area C for as-builts on anchor bolts that will be sent to Norgate for coordination.
9. The exterior mockup panel is framed, and has been completely sheathed --appearing ready for WRM installation.
10. The 8 inch water main that connects out from behind the school was tied in on 8/18.
11. Anesse has placed the main electrical ductbank and conduit up to the transformer pad, and is in the process of
installing the sweeps for the connections to the future transformer (see photo).
12. Commodore reports that the Area D steel is in fabrication, and that Norgate is on schedule to commence steel
erection on September 13.

Footing Subgrade Compaction / Preparation Detail :
The soil matrix encountered at subgrade elevation largely consists of uniform sands and fine sands with scant traces of
non‐plastic silt. Therefore, the proper in‐situ compaction of this material is largely dependent on the relative moisture
content of the soil. Since the encountered materials are of native, (natural) deposition the water content can vary from
location to location. Each situation must be evaluated to determine that the proper soil compaction techniques are
utilized vis‐à‐vis the moisture content of the soil. In other words, it may be necessary to moisten some areas with
supplied water in order to certify proper compaction in these circumstances.

NOTE: The Footings depicted in this report are Haunch Footings, the area constructed is not conducive to report in the
routine format presented in the above referenced table since the size and configuration is typically variable. There are
fifteen such footings proposed, encompassing 32 VSC Piers. Their location can approximately be defined as an area
bounded in four corners by the exiting plan coordinate system, NE corner‐a5.7/R, SE corner‐a8/T.7, NW corner‐a5.7/T.4,
and SW corner a.8/T.7. Please refer to Foundation Plan # S‐1.11A for more detailed information. The photos included
show the footing area in partial stages of construction, and of this date are not yet complete.

Haunch Footing Specifications : Typical 20 inch wide X 8 inch deep – length and alignment configuration varies
according to location and application. The Compacted Crushed Stone not only underlies the footing as a base but also
acts as the confinement, i.e. the form for the concrete placement. The haunchs are hewn out of the Crushed Stone in
the 8” X 20” size configuration – visible in the attached photographs. Haunch preparation is approximately 65%
complete.
