Hello Brian,
The prior portrayals of the boardwalk were accurate at the time, but there may be new guidance recommendations
promoting a 1.5:1 ratio of elevation to width over salt marshes to promote more sunlight to the marsh below. With a 6’
boardwalk width, this would be a height of 9’. The ultimate height is a function of the width of the boardwalk, the type
of decking material and whether the boardwalk is over a marsh or other type of wetlands.
The Town’s consultant BETA has submitted a request to the Conservation Commission to conduct a few geo-probes to
nd
get soils information to help with the boardwalk design. They will be meeting on September 2 where we also hope to
get input from the Commission on the height/location of the boardwalk to assist in the future design. Handicap
accessibility will be required as part of the design.
I would suggest anyone interested in this project to sign up for notify me at https://www.yarmouth.ma.us/list.aspx. The
Drive-In Site Utilization Committee will be reviewing the design at public meetings as it proceeds forward.
Thanks,
Kathy

Good Morning Kelly -
It has come to our attention that the prior portrayals of the proposed "loop boardwalk" may not be
accurate.
Is it correct that some, if not most areas, will be between 9' and 12' above grade?
How will handicap access affect plans?
1
If these changes are correct, how will they be communicated to the community?
Please advise, thanks.
