HomeMy WebLinkAbout27-29 Commercial St COMPLETE DRC PACKET 0922201 Williams, Kathleen From:Williams, Kathleen Sent:Friday, September 18, 2020 12:02 PM To:'Charles Adams (adams2430@gmail.com)'; 'Chris Vincent (christophervincent@comcast.net)'; 'Dick Martin (dick@dickmartinera.com)'; 'Jack McCormack (johnhmccormackjr@comcast.net)'; 'Sara J Porter (sjparch@comcast.net)' Subject:DRC Virtual Meeting - September 22nd at 4 PM - Platinum Auto Attachments:092220 DRC Agenda and Materials REDUCED.pdf; Concept Ideas Platinum Auto KDW 091820.pdf Hi Guys,    Please find attached the DRC Submittal Application for the Platinum Auto DRC virtual meeting scheduled for  Tuesday September 22, 2020 at 4 PM.  This can also be found on the Town website  at:  http://www.yarmouth.ma.us/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_09222020‐1640     You should have received an invitation from TOY Zoom Host today for this meeting.    The proposed project involves a 5,250 square foot expansion of the existing automotive repair facility (Platinum  Auto) with the construction of a 105‘x50’ pre‐engineered metal building, reconfiguration of the site access, parking  and drive aisles, utility improvements and landscaping.    Planner Comments for Consideration by the DRC: Please note that Design Review is advisory for this project.     Architecture: The building is a 105’x50’ rectangular metal building with shallow sloped roof.  It doesn’t meet  any of the Architectural Design Standards, but it is located in the rear of the parcel along Delivery Road  which is far less traveled than Commercial Street, so it is well hidden from the main public way    Site: The site is essentially all building, pavement, gravel or stone.  The landscape is limited to three existing  trees on the property and a few small plantings in the front surrounded by stone, most of which is located  within the layout of Commercial Street.  They also have paved areas in the front for parking as well as  display of vehicles for sale.  There is also an unusual parallel parking space with curb stop within the road  layout.      They have done a good job adding buffer trees around the southern and eastern perimeter of the  property.  A question would be whether these buffer trees would be located in grass, or stone like in the  front.  There are few improvements along Commercial Street.  I would suggest adding some additional  plantings as shown in the attached Concept Ideas, understanding we are looking for improvement and will  likely not get full compliance.    They have requested holding off on the expense of the design of the drainage system until they get the ZBA  relief they are looking for (same with septic).    I put the application in the mail yesterday. Dick has indicated he will not be able to make the meeting, so it is super  important that Jack, Sara and Chris are able to attend to have quorum.    Thanks,  Kathy  2   ---------------------------------------- Kathy Williams, PE Yarmouth Town Planner 1146 Route 28 South Yarmouth, MA 02664-4492 (508) 398-2231 Ext 1276 kwilliams@yarmouth.ma.us     Date: Town of Yarmouth Design Review Application 15 September 2020 For Office Use Only D Conce ptual Review D Fonnal Review D Des.
