Hi Guys,
Please find attached the DRC application, aerial and Agenda for the May 23rd DRC meeting to review a proposal to
install wireless antennas in the existing church steeple (South Yarmouth Methodist Church at 318 Old Main Street)
including replacement of metal louvers with fiberglass louvers, and installation of a ground mounted standby
generator.
I would offer the following comments:
1. Generator: The generator is pad mounted and the applicant notes that they would like input on the
screening from the DRC, so we can give some thought to that. The generator is located to the side of the
rear portion of the building and is mildly visible from Old Main Street and is visible from those using the
South Yarmouth Library parking lot and side entrance, as well as from Mill Street. I believe they can’t move
the generator to behind the building as they have proposed an addition in the past, but this could be
discussed at the meeting.
2. 5” GPS Antenna: They mention a possible 5” GPS Antenna on the southerly facing surface of the
building. I’d like to get more information from them at the meeting on this as well as the proposed coax
routing (not clear in inside or exterior of the building).
3. CPA Funds: This steeple was recently redone using CPA funds. I have an inquiry in as to whether use of the
CPA funds would impact this proposal in any way. I did inquire with the Historic Commission administrator
and there did not appear to be concerns with the proposal as long as it looked the same.
Hard copies are in the box on top of the cabinets outside my office. I believe, Jack, Dick and Charlie are able to make
the meeting. I am out of the office next week, but back on May 21st.
