Hi Kelly,
Thank you for reaching out. I made this comment with typical groin recommendations in mind - increasing groin height
can increase wave reflection and scour in the immediate vicinity of the structure. However, given the different design
purposes and orientations of groins vs bulkheads, these considerations are likely less relevant to bulkheads. If increasing
bulkhead elevation is a necessary design component of this project, DMF does not oppose it. Hope this provides some
clarity!

The Division of Marine Fisheries (MA DMF) has reviewed the Notice of Intent (NOI) by Patricia Drenzek, 11
Swordfish Drive, to replace an existing timber bulkhead with a vinyl bulkhead on the Parkers River in the Town
