SUBJECT: 322 Old Main St, South Yarmouth
At its regular meeting on Thursday, July 13, 2017, the Yarmouth Historical Commission, with a quorum
present, met with the Chair of the South Yarmouth United Methodist Church Building Committee David
Duvall, regarding proposed alterations which include the addition of a shed dormer on the rear roof of the
church building.
After reviewing the proposed plans and elevation drawings, the Commission voted unanimously in their
decision that the addition of the proposed shed dormer would not jeopardize this building's status as a
contributing structure within the Bass River/ South Yarmouth Historic District.
Therefore, they agreed that the work should be allowed to go forward as proposed.

and the Yarmouth Historical Commission Office Administrator Beth Vozella:
The South Yarmouth United Methodist Church will be making valley roof repairs.
In an effort to reduce cost while gaining the proper valley strength, we are requesting
your permission to build a dormer to the back of Fellowship Hall. This dormer would
face the barn in back of property. The reason for the dormer is to cover four beams
needed to support valleys. Adding the beams and dormer would cost less than completely
stripping the valleys, disposing of the materials, installing new rafters, new sheathing etc.
