Dear Konstantin-
Thank you for meeting with the Yarmouth Historical Commission on March 12, 2015 to discuss your plans to renovate the
structures located at 24 & 24A River Street. During this YCH meeting, at which a quorum was present, the members were
provided with background/historical information regarding the structures and appreciated the opportunity to discuss with you
the following proposed renovations:
• Lift houses and pour foundations- currently no foundation except a small portion of 24 River- not original to
the house
• Change siding: The existing siding is vinyl. He wants to replace it for combination of Fiber cement clap boards
(matching the existing color -mild blue to the best extent possible) at the front and white cedar shingles
elsewhere.
• Change roofing: The existing roofing is three tab shingle which was popular in the '80s. He wants to replace it
with architectural type asphalt roofing shingles (they resemble cedar shakes a little better and are pretty
much the industry standard now). The color that he's planning to use is weathered wood which is mild
brown/gray and mimics old cedar roofing.
• Demo chimneys- not original to the house and leaks.
• Replace windows - not original to the house
• Add roof over bulkhead access- currently water runs down and fills up under house- needs to be diverted
• Add 4 skylights to # 24 - 2 will be up on second floor - hardly visible from street level and 2 will be outback
not visible from street
• Add 2 skylights to # 24a -structure is in the back of the lot - not visible from street.
• Remove trees in the work area
After discussing the property at length, a vote was taken, and the Commission unanimously agreed that these alterations would
not jeopardize its status as a contributing structure in a National Register Historic District.
You are therefore, free to pursue the renovations as proposed. The Yarmouth Building Department has been notified of this
decision via copy of this email.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter and please don't hesitate to contact me should you have any further questions.
Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Gaudet,
Please send me email copies/scans of all notifications of hearings and meetings, as well as all plans, permits, and appeals related
to construction at the 24 & 24a River St. addresses in South Yarmouth. My wife and I own the abutting property and are very
concerned about the work being down there exceeding the scope of permits, and the lack of proper notification of hearings for
the work that was actually done. The Building Inspector's office has already been notified of several of our concerns.
Thank you,
Dan Vogel
