WORK IN PROGRESS: 1) Interior partition framing and drywall 2) Painting 3) MEP rough-in 4) Fire protection 5) Elevator installation 6) Door frame installation 7) Misc metals 8) Concrete deck installation 9) Curtain wall installation 10) GFRC panel girt installation and insulation 11) Brick masonry and CMU 12) Fluid-applied AVB installation at GYM 13) Exterior sheathing at A 14) Site work at the upper sports field FIELD OBSERVATIONS: PE visited the site on Thursday 04-21, to review ongoing progress. 1. Sheetrock installation is ongoing at area D and C, and Colony is in the process of taping and sanding ahead of the painting crew at Area D level 1. 2. O’Byrne’s crew is painting classrooms in Area D (see photo on page 2). 3. MEP installation at Area D is continuing to focus on preparing ceiling plenum areas for ceiling work to begin during the week of 4-24. 4. MEP rough-in is ongoing in Area B 5. Door frames are being set in Area B 6. At the time of observation Silverback had just poured the composite deck for the two uppermost tiers at the auditorium (see photo on page 3). 7. Elevator installation is ongoing (both elevators) 8. United Steel is on site doing field measurements for the monumental stair base and the roof ladders. 9. Moving to exterior items, Colony is continuing to sheathe the music room wing; at the time of observation they were installing blocking for the curtain wall openings in C. 10. Lighthouse has completed the exterior CMU back up wall at custodial work area (see photo on page 4); brick masonry work is finishing up at the south side of Area D at the time of observation there were two crews laying brick: one at the south-central facade of C and one at the north-west. 11. For the gymnasium, the CMU work is complete and Lighthouse is installing the PCC base at the west side. 12. Liquid applied AVB installation at the gymnasium has commenced ,and the west wall appears substantially complete. REPORT BY: ABH Page 2 of 4 13. The Lambrian crew is installing the central curtain wall at the gym (see photo on page 3) and is continuing to install the CW at the “bridges” (Area B-C). 14. Lymo is substantially done with clips and mineral wool for the GFRC panels at Area D and Area C, and are working on the girts and insulation for the ACM at the bridges. (See photo on page 4) 15. Site progress: RBO is doing rough grading and laying drain pipe for the athletic fields; preparing to install bases for the storage sheds. See attached Traverse site report for more details on site progress. DISCREPANCIES, SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS 4211. Miradrain issue at turf fields. CB, RBO, PE, Traverse, and PMA met to review RBO’s progress and to discuss Traverse’s RFI 340 response (saying not to use drainage fabric above the drain pipe at the synthetic turf). Also see attached Traverse site report. 4212. Facia plate at auditorium. Per measurements by United, the steel fascia at the balcony was installed ½” too low, so that the edge of the porcelain tile will show. PE to look at options and direct. 4213. Steel protrusion at auditorium. Paul Genereux (CB field super) asked about the steel frame that is protruding slightly at both sides of the upper auditorium. This will need to be concealed with a bump-out (+/- three inches). CB to review with theater seating contractor for possible impact on seat layout. 4214. Slab depression at kitchen. Paul Genereux asked about the ½” slab depression at the kitchen, which CB believes is incompatible with the specified (non-poured) epoxy floor. PE to research. Prior Items 4141. (from 04 14 site report) Poorly plumbed column at A.17/V. CB pointed out that the upper part of the HSS column at A.17/V (auditorium lobby) impinges on the interior space by more than an inch. PE and the Colony foreman discussed a solution that would involve furring out with 7/8” furring channels (see photo). still open. 4142. (from 04 14 site report) Accent paint at classroom walls. PE had O’Byrne to make the main wall color carry across the accent wall above the horizontal reveal and to use P-09 (yellow) around the doorway on the classroom side. Update: PE approved classroom paint mockup installation with minor comments (see photo below) – this item is being closed. 3311. (from 03 31 site report) Missing expansion joint. Update: Colony has addressed the missing expansion joint on level 2 as requested on 3-31 (see 4-07 report), but still needs to tweak the location of the first floor EJ: Colony confirmed that 2nd floor WRM was coordinated, and PE approved location of EJ on level 2. 3173. (from 03 17 site report) Curtain wall at gym corner. still open. 31002. (from 03 10 site report) Exposed HSS support brackets in gym.. still open 22402. (from 03 03 site report) Caulk color Update: “Beige” caulk was approved (see photo on p. 3). t/b closed. 11301. (From 01-13 site report): Guard rail welds at D & C stairs - United still needs to grind welds for guards at academic stairs (see photo). Update: PE reviewed this item with United and CB emphasized schedule issue-still open. The stone sample is acceptable for use. Reviewing the stone, it is acceptable to bring the base stone to the surface and eliminate the finish stone. 7.3 ✔ It was discussed in the field that the subgrade needs to be rolled and surveyed prior to acceptance. The subgrade needs to be visually inspected prior to fabric, stone and flat drain being placed. 7.4 ✔ DMH8 was reviewed in the field. RBO has moved the manhole 6' into the field from the curb. The manhole should be set 6" below the finish stone. The top of manhole cover should be set flush with the top of the finish stone. The cover will be under the 7.5 It was discussed to cover the trench with filter fabric. This is not allowed within the field. Traverse explained the issue with filter fabric clogging the system and creating an air pocket that could potentially float the field. 7.6 ✔ It was discussed that there would be a pre-construction meeting set up to review the field sequencing, requirements and schedule. 7.7 Station Ave field, RBO indicated that there is an electrical line that runs from the existing drive to the side of the admin building. RBO indicated that they were having the line located to coordinate. 7.8 ✔ The cover of the football upright was discussed. Contractor shall comply with all requirements instructed by the Landscape Architect on all previous field reports until such requirements are fulfilled. The Landscape Architect shall not be responsible for any items not addressed in previous field reports which may result in cost or damage. All work shall comply with that which is shown in the Contract Documents. General conditions Site visits performed by the Landscape Architect under this contract have been conducted under the limited conditions as described by site observations in the General Conditions of the Contract for Construction, as referenced in the Owner-Architect Agreement. Information contained in this Field Observation Report by Traverse Landscape Architects has been prepared to the best of our knowledge according to observable conditions at the site. This information will be approved record unless written notice to the contrary is received within seven (7) calendar days of the issue date of this document. Written corrections shall be reported to observer at Traverse Landscape Architects. Oral rebuttals will not be accepted.
