Work Observed • Air and Vapor Barrier (AVB) Installation • Window Installation • Roofing Installation Observations • On the Part B, south elevation rising walls, Grid Lines A2 - B13, GCP Perm-A-Barrier Aluminum AVB was installed by Beacon prior to RJK observations. Primer/adhesive was applied to the DensGlass Sheathing. The membrane was installed in a water shedding fashion, with a minimum 2 inch side lap and 10 inch lap around outside corners, as required. (Figure 1) • On the Part B, north, east, and south elevation rising walls, Grid Lines B25 - B33, GCP Perm-A-Barrier NPL 10 was spray applied at the concrete block prior to RJK observations. (Figure 2) • On Part B, south elevation, Grid Lines A2 - B13, window rough openings were detailed into the AVB prior to RJK observations. A strip of AVB was installed extending past the jamb and onto the exterior sheathing. The horizontal field sheets were run into the jambs in water shedding fashion. A head strip was then installed lapping over the jamb strips, as required. (Figure 3) • On Part B, south elevation, Grid Lines A22 - B29, window flanges are stripped in utilizing self-adhered aluminum flashing in a water shedding fashion. Dow Sil 795 sealant was applied to the membrane edges. (Figure 4) • On Part B, south elevation, Grid Lines A22 - B29, bent plates were installed below windows, set in Dow Sil 795 sealant, and fastened utilizing screws. (Figures 6, 7) • On Part B, south and east elevations, Grid Lines A17 - B33, insulated glazing units (IGU) were installed in the Kawneer 1600IR curtain wall systems, utilizing final pressure plates in the field of the system and temporary pressure plates at the perimeter. (Figure 8) • On Part B, south elevation, Grid Lines A17 - B21, aluminum brake metal back pans were installed in the curtain wall framing utilizing clips. Dow Sil 795 application was in progress at the perimeter of the panels. (Figure 9) • On Part B, south elevation, Grid Lines A17 - B21, ELBEX HS-222 Silicone Transition Sheet was installed at curtain wall frames, lapping into the glazing pocket and onto the vertical AVB membrane and installed in water shedding fashion between strips at the head, jambs, and sill. Dow Sil 795 Sealant was applied to the edges of the membrane at the wall and glazing pocket. (Figure 10) • On Part B, east elevation rising walls, Grid Lines J - J.7, Hohmann & Bernard Thermal 2-Seal Wing Nut Anchors are installed through 6 inch John Mansville MinWool-1200. (Figure 11) • On Part B, south elevation rising walls, Grid Lines B25 - B33, Hohmann & Bernard Thermal 2-Seal Wing Nut Anchors are installed through 2 inch extruded polystyrene insulation. Precast concrete bases were installed onto the foundation supported by the masonry anchors. (Figure 12) • On Part B, south elevation base detail, solid grout fill was installed between precast concrete bases and extruded polystyrene insulation. (Figure 13) • On Part B, south elevation rising walls, Grid Lines B25 - B33, Knight MFI ThermaBracket S-Series wall ties were installed, fastened utilizing screws, and wet set in GCP Perm-A-Barrier S100 Sealant. (Figure 14) • On Part D, north elevation rising wall, Grid Lines D6 - D21, LYMO 2000 ACM panels were installed, fastened utilizing panel clips to horizontal GreenGirt. (Figure 15) • On Part D, north and west elevation rising walls, Grid Lines D1 - D5, Rieder Öko Skin high performance cementitious wall panels were installed, fastened utilizing screws to the horizontal galvanized hat channel. (Figure 16) • On Part B, Gymnasium Roof, Grid Lines B24 - B25, Sika Sarnafil G 410-80 EnergySmart PVC Roof Membrane base flashing was adhered to parapet walls utilizing Sika Sarnacol-2170 VC Adhesive. The membrane was laid out adhesive roller applied to the back of the membrane and to the parapet wall and was then allowed to tack off. The membrane was flown into place and pressed in utilizing a silicone roller. (Figure 17) • On Part B, Gymnasium Roof, Grid Lines B24 - B25, Sika Sarnafil G 410-80 EnergySmart PVC Roof Membrane base flashing was heat welded to the field membrane utilizing a hand welder and pressed in utilizing a silicone roller to promote adhesion. Prior to welding, the field membrane was cleaned utilizing membrane cleaner and rags. • On Part B, Gymnasium Roof, Grid Lines B24 - B25, T-joint patches were heat welded to the field membrane utilizing a hand welder and pressed in utilizing a silicone roller to promote adhesion. Apply new materials to create a continuous building enclosure. (Figure 19) 8.2 Discontinued AVB at Curtain Wall Column - Part B, East Elevation Rising Wall, Grid Lines M.9-L - The steel columns between curtain wall are not detailed utilizing self-adhered air barrier membrane per Detail 12 on A-6.10. (Figure 8) Brick Cladding 8.3 Missing Insulation Behind Brick - Part B, North Elevation Rising Wall, Grid Lines B32 - A section of mineral wool insulation is missing from the wall behind the installed masonry cladding. (Figure 11) Roofing 8.4 Roof Discontinuation Between Vapor Barrier and PVC Membrane - Part B, Gymnasium Roof, Grid Lines B24 - B25 - No vapor barrier was observed lapping onto the parapet wall to contact the back of the roof membrane, creating a void in the building enclosure.
