Eric Pittman reported to John Pope with PMA at the jobsite.
Building D mulled window unit G1A D4 D2 tested on the first level North wall for air and water infiltration per ASTM E 783 and E
1105 at the parameters given from the project specifications. Report and photograph are attached.
Additional Notes: This window met the test parameters.
Referenced Details: Project specifications and architectural plans. Project submittals.
Introduction:
Fenestration air leakage resistance and water penetration resistance testing was performed as requested by
the client. Windows were selected at random by client. Testing was performed using an internal test
chamber on a pass / fail basis. See procedure for more details.
Procedure(s):
Air Leakage Resistance
Air Leakage resistance testing was performed in accordance with ASTM E783-02: “Standard Test Method
for Field Measurement of Air Leakage Through Installed Exterior Windows and Doors”, with respect to
AAMA 502-12: “Voluntary Specification for Field Testing of Newly Installed Fenestration Products”.
Water Penetration Resistance
Water penetration resistance testing was performed in accordance with ASTM E 1105-00: “Test Method for
Field Determination of Water Penetration of Installed Exterior Windows, Skylights, Doors, and Curtain
Walls, by Uniform or Cyclic Static Air Pressure Difference”, with respect to AAMA 502-12: “Voluntary
Specification for Field Testing of Newly Installed Fenestration Products”.
Procedure A (ASTM E 1105-00, Section 12.1) - A uniform static differential pressure is applied across the
fenestration within 15 seconds and maintain this pressure, along with the specified rate of water spray for 15
minutes.

WINDOW TESTING REPORT
Conformance Criteria:
Air leakage resistance tests shall be conducted at a uniform cyclic test pressure of 1.57 psf. The maximum
allowable rate of air leakage shall not exceed 0.09 cfm/ft2
Water penetration resistance tests shall be conducted at a static test pressure of 6.24 PSF. No water penetration shall
occur as defined in ASTM E1105-00, Section 3.2.3. (Per project specification 08 4113 3.5 as provided by PMA)
ASTM E 1105-00, Section 3.2.3, defines water penetration as “penetration of water beyond a plane parallel to the
glazing (the vertical plane) intersecting the innermost projection of the test specimen, not including interior trim
and hardware, under the specified conditions of air pressure difference across the specimen”. Any such water
penetration shall constitute failure of the water penetration resistance test. Water penetrating through the perimeter
frame of the specimen shall also constitute failure. Water contained within drained flashing, gutters, and sills shall
not constitute failure.

Result Summary:
Air leakage testing per ASTM E783-02 met the parameters set out in the project specifications and AAMA 502.
Per ASTM E1105, differential air pressure was maintained within the capsule at 6.24 PSF and water spray delivery at 5.0 U.S.
gal/ft^2/hour for the duration of the test period. The capsule was sealed to the interior finished wall around the rough opening,
which was lined with flashing. This arrangement tested the integrity of the installation as well as the actual window.
No water leakage was observed at the conclusion of the test.
