WORK IN PROGRESS: 1) Drywall taping and painting 2) Classroom casework installation 3) Millwork installation 4) Tile installation 5) Ceiling framing; ceiling installation 6) MEP/FP rough-in and finish work 7) Curtain wall IGU installation 8) Misc. Metals 9) PCC base installation 10) Envelope Caulking and CW sealing by Beacon 11) GFRC panel and prep (girt/ insulation installation) 12) ACM panel as well as girt/insulation installation 13) Interior “thin brick” installation 14) Site work FIELD OBSERVATIONS: PE visited the site on Thursday 07-28, to review ongoing progress. Interior Items 1. At Area D, casework installation is complete except for the tops; bathroom tile and epoxy floor installation are complete: ceiling grids are at about 70%. 2. At Area C, Bathroom tile installation and epoxy floor finish installation are still ongoing, as well as millwork and casework installation. 3. Above ceiling MEP work at Area C is about 80% in preparation for ceiling installation, and MEP finish work is ongoing 4. H. Carr is framing the clouds for ceilings at the C-D link areas. 5. At the Area B “central commons,” O’Byrne has primed the ceiling and the main wall, and Colony is in the process of taping the gyp at the lightwells. 6. At Area B, above-ceiling work is proceeding at the locker room area; the first floor north side is painted and Colony is currently working on taping the rooms at the south side administrative area. 7. Installation is underway for the green and blue tile in the Area C stairs. 8. In-wall MEP work is finishing up at the perimeter walls of the cafeteria. 9. According to Commodore O’Byrne will start painting at the gymnasium steel / MEP next week. 10. Colony has installed and taped the acoustical panels at the ceiling ‘clouds’ at the media center (see photo on page 3). 11. At the time of observation, Lighthouse masonry was installing the think brick at the two main entrance vestibules (see photo on page 3). 12. H. Carr is installing the ceiling grid for the metal acoustical ceiling panels at the auditorium. REPORT BY: ABH Page 2 of 4 13. Interior CMU installation appears to be substantially complete (including the HVAC shafts at the gymnasium). 14. At Area A, the auditorium plenum (above ceiling) is being painted, and Anesse is continuing to complete the overhead electrical rough-in at the auditorium. Exterior items: 1. Infill of west link at the north courtyard is ongoing; PCC base at the curtain wall is about to go in. 2. Beacon has completed the masonry caulking and the AVB installation at area A, and is focusing on finishing up the ETA at the curtain walls (see attached report by RJK). 3. Most of the CW IGU’s are installed; Lambrian is about to begin installing the concealed panels that are glazed in at the spandrels of C-1, C-3 etc. (behind the ACM band). 4. Blocking for signage was primed black; Lymo (panel contractor) is in the process of installing GFRC panels at the south side of the gym (see photo on page 4). 5. ACM installation at Area A is ongoing and is about 75% complete—Lymo is in the process of installing ACM at west façade of auditorium, including the proscenium (see page 4 photo); Lymo’s prep (green girt and insulation) is nearly complete. 6. Brick masonry work on the exterior is substantially complete. (see photo below). Site work: 1. Site work for the Courtyard is almost complete at the north courtyard (C-D courtyard). 2. Marguerite is in the process of setting the forms for the ‘organic’ paving at the B-C courtyard. 3. Fine grading for upper field B is almost complete according to Commodore. 4. RBO is in the process of demolishing the existing driveway in front of SAE (between SAE and the district administration building), and will be grading the road bed there in prep for binder course. DISCREPANCIES, SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS New items 7191. Polished concrete flooring samples. PE reviewed the light gray and “white” polished concrete color samples; selection is on hold pending consultation with the district. Prior items 7191. (from 07 19 site report) Brick pattern at inside corner. still open 7192. (from 07 19 site report) Gap at PCC base and CW at Area D stair entries. . still open 7141. (from 07 14 site report) Edge detail at C-D stairs. In some cases there is an excessive gap between the stair stringer and the wall; PE asked CB to have United close with a thin 12 gauge plate welded to top of stringer. This item has been addressed; to be closed 6301. (from 06 30 site report) Distortion in some panels of CW IGUs. CB, PE, and PMA are in discussion regarding the acceptability of this distortion. still open 6162. (from 06 16 site report) Parapet ends at links. Still open 6305. ( (from 04 21 site report) Steel protrusion at auditorium. Still open. 1131. (From 01-13 site report): Guard rail welds at D & C stairs - United still needs to grind welds for the guards at academic stairs. Still open. Work Observed • Various Cladding Installation • Curtain Wall Installation Observations • Part C, West Link Elevation Base Detail, Grid Lines E - D, C115 - Hohmann & Bernard Thermal 2-Seal Wing Nut Anchors are installed through 2 inch extruded polystyrene insulation. Precast concrete bases were installed onto the foundation, supported by the masonry anchors. Solid grout fill was installed between precast concrete bases and extruded polystyrene insulation. (Figure 1) • Part C, East Link Elevation, Grid Lines E - D.7, C115 - Kawneer 1600IR curtain wall systems were installed, fastened to the rough opening through F anchors and T anchors. (Figures 2, 3) • Part C, West Link Elevation, Grid Lines E - D.7, C115 - ELBEX HS-222 Silicone Transition Sheet was installed at curtain wall frames. The silicon sheet laps into the glazing pocket and onto the vertical AVB membrane in water shedding fashion, between strips at the head, jambs, and sill that are set in three beads of DOWSIL 795 Silicone Building Sealant. DOWSIL 795 Silicone Building Sealant was applied to the edges of the membrane at the wall and glazing pocket. (Figure 4) • Part A, North and West Elevations, Grid Lines B1 and P and Part C, West Link Elevation, Grid Lines E - D.7, C115 - LYMO 2000 ACM panels were installed, fastened utilizing panel clips to the horizontal GreenGirt. (Figures 5, 6) • Part B, south and east elevations, Gridlines B21 - B33, J - P.7 - Rieder Öko Skin high performance cementitious wall panels were installed and are fastened to the horizontal galvanized hat channel with color matched screws. The glazed in aluminum plate is missing per Detail 9 on A-503 in the Architectural Drawings. The plate will act as a backup waterproofing for the system. (Figure 8) END OF REPORT RJK has no contractual responsibility in the design or actual construction of the project and is acting solely in a consultant and/or in an advisory capacity to the Client. Any and all modifications, changes, recommendations, suggestions, etc., relating to the design and/or construction, should be forwarded, reviewed, and approved by the designer of record prior to implementation.
