WORK IN PROGRESS: 1) Drywall installation 2) Drywall taping and painting 3) Tack board and marker board installation 4) Classroom casework installation 5) Classroom Linoleum flooring installation 6) Millwork installation 7) Ceiling framing; ceiling installation 8) MEP/FP finish work—light fixtures etc. 9) Interior painting 10) Curtain wall silicone sealing 11) GFRC panel installation 12) ACM panel installation and prep 13) Site work FIELD OBSERVATIONS: PE visited the site on Thursday 09-01, to review ongoing progress. Interior Items 1. The installation of finishes at Area D is still ongoing, including linoleum flooring installation and marker board installation (see photo on page 5). Ceiling installation is almost complete in the classrooms and is at 90% in the corridors. 2. O’Byrne has started the yellow paint on the steel stair stringers and guards at Area D (see photo on page 3). 3. At the time of observation, Wright was in the process of installing the bench under the west stairs at Area D (see photo on page 3); the radiused millwork portals at the link ‘connectors’ are scheduled to be installed next week according to CB. 4. Earlier in the week Harold Brothers installed the bottle filling stations at Area D. 5. At Area C, Millwork and casework installation are both still ongoing; “krion” classroom portals at levels 1 and 2 are completed. 6. At Area C, above-ceiling MEP is almost complete on level 2; will be ready for inspection on 09-06 per CB. 7. At Area C, the installation of ceiling grids, finished ceilings and MEP fixtures are all ongoing. 8. At Area B, H. Carr was in the process of installing the wood “coffers” at the media center in the circulation area at the time of observation (see photo on page 5). 9. O’Byrne is in the process of painting the ceilings at the Area B central commons area, with locker room areas to get painted next (according to Commodore). 10. According to CB O’Byrne is due to finish painting the gymnasium steel / MEP on 09-02 (Friday), and all of the wall painting in Area B is scheduled to be complete next week. 11. The installation of gymnasium accessories (e.g. curtains, hoops etc.) is due to begin next week. 12. At Area A, the staging for the work platform in the auditorium has been removed (see photo on page 4). REPORT BY: ABH Page 2 of 5 13. At area A, Above-ceiling MEP work is complete at the cafeteria and kitchen—ready for ceiling installation. Exterior items: 1. Lymo is in the process of installing the Oko skin “formpart” outside corners, beginning at C wing and D wing (see photo in attached RJK field report FR-19). 2. Lymo has now completed the angled ACM coping at the south low wing of the gymnasium. 3. Lymo has replaced the damaged panels at the parapet of the SW link structure (see “prior item” for action #8112). 4. At the time of observation Lymo had replaced (or re-installed) the GFRC panels around the cafeteria CW openings where the punctured ETA had to be repaired by Beacon (see relevant section of 8-25 site observation report). 5. According to the attached RJK FR-19, Lymo installed the factory corner ACM panels at the NW corner of the auditorium on 8-31 (see photo in FR-19). 6. Lymo has installed the ACM at auditorium entry vestibule on 8-31 (see photo on page 4). 7. At the time of observation, Lymo was installing the angled ACM panels at the east façade of Area A, at the parapet; angled stud framing is being installed by Lymo ahead of the angled ACM panels (see photo on page 4); see also photo on page 7 of 12 of attached RJK FR-19). Site work: 1. RBO has spread loam and prepped for the concrete walkways immediately west of Area D; at the time of observation RBO’s subcontractor was in the process of pouring those walkways. See photos on 3 and 5. 2. According to CB, irrigation is complete minus the heads at field C. 3. RBO is about to commence installation of the safety netting and footings for playground equipment. DISCREPANCIES, SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS New items 9011. Millwork installation under stairs. For millwork under the stairs, the radiant panel had been set too far out from the wall to accommodate millwork per shop drawings; Arden to adjust radiant panel and Wright to make struts for the millwork bench slightly thinner (see photo on page 3. Work Observed • Various Cladding Installation • Sealant Joint Installation • Roofing Installation Observations • Part C, East Elevation Rising Walls, Grid Lines C11 - C12, and Part D, West and East Elevations Rising Walls, Grid Lines D24 - D25 - Reider formparts.fab outside corners were installed fastened to the horizontal galvanized hat channel with color matched screws. (Figure 1, Figure 2) • Part A, North Elevation, Grid Lines B4 - B14, K - Jamb and head flashings were installed at curtain walls where Rieder Öko Skin is installed. The metal laps over the end dams of the through-wall flashing at the top of the brick cladding. (Figures 3, 4) • Part B, South Elevation Curtain Walls, Grid Lines A17 - B21, and Part A, East Elevation Curtain Walls, Grid Lines V - S.1 - At the sealant joints between flashing and curtain wall, backer rod and sealant were installed. The backer rod is set half the width of the joint into the cavity, to a maximum of ½-inch recessed. Sealant was applied and tooled in by sealant knife to create a concave shape to the sealant. (Figures 5, 6) • Part A, East Elevation, Grid Lines V - T.2 - GreenGirt is installed wet set in sealant and fastened utilizing screws. Six (6) inch mineral wool insulation is set between the GreenGirt. (Figure 7) • Part A, North, East and West Elevation Rising Walls, Grid Lines A1 - B13 - LYMO 2000 ACM Panels were installed fastened utilizing panel clips to the horizontal GreenGirt. Factory outside corner panels were installed fastened utilizing clips to the horizontal GreenGirt. (Figures 8, 9) • Part A, East Elevation, Grid Lines V - S.1 and Part B, South Elevation, Grid Lines A17 - B21 - Stud framing was installed prior to installation to the angled ACM panels. Angle metal was installed wet set in sealant and fastened utilizing screws. The panels were then installed fastened to the angles utilizing screws. A concealed plate is installed at seams with each panel set in sealant at the plate. (Figures 11 - 13) Discussion Items • Damaged and Unsealed Prefabricated Pipe Flashing - South B, Low Roof, Grid Lines B26.5, N.6 - A prefabricated pipe flashing is compressed, and the sealant applied around the top is unadhered. It appears the flashing was not set in sealant and there was no clamping ring installed. Clean the areas, fix the flashing, apply sealant under the top flange and install a clamping ring. (Figures 14, 15) • Roof Membrane Damage - Part C, East, Grid Lines C19, G - Two areas of damage are marked in black lumber crayon. Repair per the manufacturer’s requirements. (Figures 16 - 18) • Open Pipe Penetrations - Part C, East, Grid Lines C20, F.5 - A pipe penetration is not sealed, leaving an entrance for moisture to infiltrate into the roof assembly and the building. Detail the pipe per the manufacturer’s requirements. (Figures 16, 19, 20) END OF REPORT RJK has no contractual responsibility in the design or actual construction of the project and is acting solely in a consultant and/or in an advisory capacity to the Client. Any and all modifications, changes, recommendations, suggestions, etc., relating to the design and/or construction, should be forwarded, reviewed, and approved by the designer of record prior to implementation. The affect membrane was cut back, and a new strip of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) membrane heat welded to the existing base flashing and then glued to the wall over the roofing vapor barrier. A bead of Sika Sarnafil Sika-Flex is gun applied to the top edge of the membrane and struck in. It is our understanding that this repair method will be conducted at similar areas on the stair tower.
