HomeMy WebLinkAbout4979 33-37 Seaside Village Letter of Opposition 19 October 14, 2022 Christos & Eva Rogaris 15 Southwest Drive South Yarmouth, MA 02664 RECEIVED Zoning Board of Appeals Town of Yarmouth OCT 17 2022 1146 Route 28 YARMOUTH South Yarmouth, MA 02664 BOARD OF APPEALS RE:Shoreside Properties LLC, 33-37 Seaside Village Road As 3-season residents of 15 Southwest Drive, we totally oppose the Shoreside Properties petition requesting a special permit to create 100%seasonal housing at 33-37 Seaside Village Road in South Yarmouth. We purchased 15 Southwest Drive in the early 1980's. In the 40 plus years we have owned the property we have never used it as a rental property but instead have enjoyed summers with our children and now our grandchildren. Over the years we have invested in improving the property and have seen the same from our neighbors. The Village Green Motel was a part of the neighborhood. It was always well run and clean. The owners lived on the premises and we cannot remember any issues. Since the change in ownership we have seen a general deterioration of the property. This includes increased litter and cigarette butts on the street, traffic speeding down Seaside Village Road at all hours, and loud music being played late in the evenings. As a neighbor within earshot of the property, the increased traffic and noise make the neighborhood feel overall less safe and family friendly. In closing, we do not agree with turning this motel into a 100%seasonal employee housing.The neighborhood has seen ample improvements in recent years and this is a change that could potentially have a serious impact on the safety and livability of the current community. This is unfair to local residents who have invested many years and a great deal of money on home improvements in the surrounding area. Thank you for your consideration, Christos and Eva Rogaris
