The property at 33-37 Seaside Village Road was purchased earlier this year and, it is our understanding, has been leased to the Red Jacket. This property, since 1991, was a motel owned by William and Beverly Hart. The motel they ran, much like your resorts, was a much-loved part of this area. It has been with no small degree of sadness and disappointment that we have watched the precipitous decline in the condition of the property, with only the bare minimum of effort expended to maintain it. Not only is it an eyesore for this family community but inappropriate and inadequate conditions for your workforce (pictures attached). It is at least a mile from public transportation, food stores, and conveniences of any kind. We have also, unfortunately, noticed an increase is speeding cars coming to and from the property, loud music and gatherings late at night, an increase in trash in the area of the property, and other happenings that really don’t belong in a residential neighborhood comprised of households ranging from young families to retirees, both seasonal and year-round. We understand the need for and support the development of employee housing but in an area that best supports the surrounding community as well as the needs of the employees and not simply the financial interests of the current owner. It would be an convenient trope to dismiss our concerns as NIMBYist, but that would be to shut down conversations that we should be having about the things we value, including quiet, safety, security, and peace of mind. And the beauty that is this area, of which the Red Jacket resorts are an important part. I hope that you will consider what I have written and the negative impact that moving forward with permanent seasonal employee housing at this location will have on the community and its residents, as well as the employees EOS Investors and EOS Hospitality values.
