GARNICK OCT 26 2022 13 Forest Gate YARMOUTH Yarmouthport, MA 02675 BOARD OF APPEALS October 25, 2022 Zoning Board of Appeals Town of Yarmouth 1146 Route 28 South Yarmouth, MA 02664 RE: Kings Way Trust Application/Petition Dear Board Members: I submit this letter to show my support for the Petition submitted by the Kings Way Trust to increase the rounds of golf at the Kings Way Golf Course. The Kings Way Community is a self-sufficient and beneficial community to the Town of Yarmouth. Kings Way places very little burden on the Town's resources. There are no children in the DY School System, it takes care of its landscaping ensuring it is in perfect shape for the various individuals who decide to walk through our community, we maintain our own wastewater treatment facility, we maintain our infrastructure, we maintain our roads and do our own snowplowing. All of which are of no cost to the Town of Yarmouth and most importantly we pay our taxes in full and on time. We also maintain our own golf course which for the past decade has been under-utilized. The Kings Way Golf Course, just like the excellent restaurant, Il Montebello, on our premises, is a business enterprise to allow the Kings Way Community to receive income in order to reduce or maintain the monthly condominium fees. As everyone knows costs and expenses of maintaining these important structures and facilities within the community has skyrocketed. The Kings Way Trust has petitioned this Board to allow the community to have the golf course reach its highest potential. Within the golf enterprise of the Town of Yarmouth, the Town has been fortunate in that 45 holes of golf at Bayberry and Bass River have been over the past number of years utilized to their fullest potential. The Town has brought their golf courses to a level that is enviable by other communities. The other golf course in town, Blue Rock, enjoys a full membership. As of January 2022, Blue Rock's membership was full and they were not taking any new members. It is now necessary for the Kings Way Trust to reach the golf course's fullest potential in order to provide benefits to its residents but this also allows the Town to advertise and to have the motel owners and restaurant owners to advertise that there is another golf amenity available to our residents and to our tourists for their enjoyment while visiting Yarmouth. The allowance of the Kings Way Trust Petition to the Board will allow this to occur. The granting of the Kings Way Trust Petition enhances Yarmouth to be on the forefront on the Cape as a major golf destination. The granting of the Kings Way Trust application is a win/win for the Town, Kings Way Trust, Kings Way residents, Yarmouth residents, and all of our tourists guests. Respectfully submitted, 4ita4'(/-;12— Gerald S. Garrick
