HomeMy WebLinkAboutFedEx Ground-Controlled Construction Report_1 10.25.2022 October 25, 2022 Mark Grylls, Building Commissioner Town of Yarmouth 1146 Route 28 South Yarmouth, MA 02664 RE: Controlled Construction Report No. 1 FedEx Ground Distribution Center 225 Whites Path Units B & C, Yarmouth, MA Dear Mr. Grylls, Construction activities at the subject project during the months of August & September, the following general work has occurred: 1. Unit B · Selective demolition including cutting and removal of some concrete floors · Plumbing work including linear trench drains · Misc electrical work 2. Unit C · Selective demolition including cutting and removal of some concrete floors · Plumbing work including linear trench drains · Misc electrical work 3. Site Work · Tree clearing and start of grubbing and grading for the new parking areas. Briggs Engineering and Testing has been retained to conduct concrete, welding and structural and reinforcing steel testing. Additionally, Northeast Geotechnical Solutions have been retained for soil and compaction testing. Their reports issued to date have been sent to you and Mr. Sears via email. Catalyst (CAI) has reviewed their test reports and have not found any areas of concern. If you have any questions about the testing reports, please contact my office. We have been attending weekly job meetings and conducting site visits frequently to monitor work in progress and adherence to the construction documents. All work completed to date has been done in a good and workmanship-like manner and in general accordance with the construction documents and applicable code. We have attached field reports from our consultants including: · CES (MEP/FP) Field Observation Report dated 09.28.2022 The following text and images describe some of the highlights of the work recently completed work: Pic -1.1 Demo of existing concrete floors and setting of piping to for floor drains Pic-1.2 Vent piping for underslab piping extended to perimeter wall with new riser to roof Pic 1.3 Selective demo of interior finishes withing the existing office block to make ready for new office layout and finishes Pic 1.4 Controlled backfill at all interior trenches were monitored by third party inspectors Pic 1.4 Clearing of trees to make way for new truck paring area and new drainage swale If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at any time. These items were noted during our field observation on 9/20/22. Items included in this report are limited to those that were accessible and visible during the time of our field observation. Completion and or correction of those items included in this report does not relieve the contractor of his responsibility to provide complete and operational systems in accordance with the contract documents. General: Site/interior work is progressing. Below are our observations. In general, piping was observed as capped and sufficiently covered to protect the piping from dust and debris. Trench drain vent piping and trap primer piping observed as partially installed. 2 Cleanouts observed as installed. Hub and spigot underground sanitary piping observed as installed. Drains were observed with caps to protect from dust and debris. 3 Sanitary point of entrance for Unit 2 observed as partially installed. Vent piping for trench drain observed as partially installed. Vent piping for sand oil separator and holding tank for Unit 2 observed as partially installed. Trench drains observed on site, not yet installed. 4 Sanitary main and excavating in Unit 3 was observed as progressing. Both sand oil separators were observed on site, not yet installed. Diffusers have been demolished. 5 Mini-split AC units have been demolished. Installation of new HVAC units has not begun.
