Earthwork equipment: A) One Volvo L120H Loader B) One Bomag 50/55D Reversible Vibratory Plate Compactor C) One Caterpillar 335F Excavator 3. Earthwork observed: A) Earthwork operations continued within the proposed northerly concrete ramp area along the westerly side of the building today (see attached Figure No. 1 – Site Sketch and Photo Log). C.C. Construction placed an approximately 12± inch thick lift of imported base course fill, generally representative of sample no. FS-3, over the previously placed and compacted sand backfill up to proposed bottom-of- concrete pavement elevations (39± to 42± feet) along the length of the proposed ramp. The base course fill generally consisted of grayish brown, fine to coarse SAND, some fine to coarse Gravel, and trace Silt. Compaction of the base course fill is scheduled to take place in the near future. B) C.C. Construction excavated a pit within a proposed landscaped area to facilitate access for work on an existing water main (see attached Figure No. 1 – Site Sketch for approximate location). The excavation was advanced through approximately 10± feet of sandy soil generally consisting of tan to reddish tan, fine to medium SAND, trace to little Silt, trace Roots, and trace fine Gravel. The pit was excavated from approximately Elevation (El) 38± feet down to El 28± feet. The pit was then backfilled with the previously excavated sandy soil placed in ten, 12± inch thick lifts. Each lift was compacted with about 5 passes of the reversible vibratory plate compactor. The lifts of backfill appeared firm and stable under the vibratory action of the compactor. 4.
