To the Yarmouth Zoning Board of Appeals,
are
Having been a property owner on the corner of Pleasant and Union Streets since 1945, we have a vested interest in the
neighborhood. Our house was built by Zeno Kelley in 1830, and we enjoy the history, and want to preserve it. We are
concerned about the proposed plans for 331 Union Street, a location on Bass River, that suggests razing the existing
structure and replacing it with a "McMansion". Not only will the suggested new building obstruct water views of several
neighbors, we are extremely concerned about the potential contamination of Bass River from demolition materials.
Lastly, I believe there are provisions, by being subject to the conditions of the Yarmouth and National Registries, which
preclude the demolition of the existing structure.
In closing, we implore the Yarmouth Zoning Board of Appeals to preserve the integrity of Bass River and the
neighborhood by keeping excess off the banks of an irreplaceable natural resource.
Sincerely,
Louise S. Houston
