PETITION 4996: Shrim Inc., dba Freebird Motor Lodge, 553 Route 28, West Yarmouth,
MA. Map & Lot #: 31.134; Zoning District: B-2. The Applicant seeks to reverse the 11.03.22
decision of the Building Inspector and/or a Special Permit per §303.13 and/or a Variance per
§303.5.5.2 to install a mural to include signage measured 22' 6" x 18'+/-.
The petitioner seeks to obtain relief by way of a grant of a Special Permit or, in the alternative, a
Variance to permit the installation of a mural to be measured 2216" by 18'+/-. The petitioner also
sought to reverse the Building Commissioner's determination of denial to install other signage
about the property. The petitioner did a fine job representing himself.
After much discussion, including Board concern that they do not legislate a new zoning sign
code, the petitioner requested that the petition be allowed to be withdrawn, without prejudice.
A motion was made by Mr. Igoe, seconded by Mr. Campbell to allow the petitioner to withdraw
the petition, without prejudice. On this motion, a roll call vote was taken and the motion was
granted 5-0.
