Town of Yarmouth Zoning Board of Appeals
Re: Seasonal Employee Housing at Motels/Hotels — Petition 5008
Dear Board Members,
RECEIVED
MAR 0 6 2023
YARMOUTH
BOARD OF APPEALS
On behalf of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, I write to you in support of the owners of the Town
'N Country Family Resorts' petition for a special permit for seasonal employee housing.
Founded in 1921, the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit, membership organization that
advocates on behalf of businesses to strengthen and promote regional economic vitality while
addressing related cultural, environmental and community concerns.
As the Cape's CVB (Convention & Visitors Bureau), the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to
helping visitors to our region make the most of their vacation experience. In order to provide visitors
with an exceptional experience, Cape communities need to work together to retain our seasonal
workforce, thus we must address the seasonal housing shortage. Utilizing existing infrastructure, in this
case motels and hotels, is a great place to start.
If this permit is granted, the Town 'N Country will be able to house workers for the Cape Cod Inflatable
Park, the Red Jacket Resorts and Dunkin' Donuts. All of these businesses are vital to our local economy.
Without this special permit, these businesses will likely be unable to fill key staff positions and be forced
to operate short-staffed, which stands to have a negative impact on the visitor experience.
We urge the Yarmouth Zoning Board of Appeals to help support local business and the Cape's vital
seasonal economy by approving Petition 5008. Creating seasonal housing strengthens our region as a
premier destination and ultimately enables our communities to thrive.
Sincerely,
Paul Niedzwiecki, President and CEO
