Re: 179 Center Street, Yarmouth Port, MA
Mr. Gonsalves,
Independent Environmental Consultants, Inc. (IEC) delineated the edge of wetlands, A1 – A14, BVW
wetland, within this residential property at 179 Center Street, Yarmouth Port, on May 7, 2020. The
delineated edge of wetlands was added to a proposed site plan for Michael Lettera dated January 6,
2021.
Down Cape Engineering, Inc. submitted a Notice of Intent application and site plans to the Yarmouth
Conservation Commission for Michael Lettera for proposed site alterations and construction activities at
the subject property. The edge of wetlands was reviewed and verified by Kelly Grant, Yarmouth
Conservation Commission Administrator. The Yarmouth Conservation Commission approved the Notice
of Intent application and site plan for the proposed work activities, and issued an Order of Conditions.
The approved wetland line as shown on the approved site plan is good for a period of three years to
2024.
Some additional work activities have occurred in the field adjacent to the pre-existing garage structure,
located at the limits of the 50’ buffer zone, which was constructed prior to the submission of the
previously mentioned NOI application and Order of Conditions in 2021. Some additional work
associated with the installation of a permanent house generator, and some mowing activities located
inside of the wetland line between wetland flags A2 and A3. Proper mitigation of this wetland impact
(mowing) could include the planting of native shrub plant species such as Sweet Pepperbush within the
mowed area between flags A2 and A3. These new native shrub plant species will increase wildlife
habitat values, add new vegetative protection for the adjacent BVW wetland, and will eliminate any
future mowing activities located within this area of the BVW wetland.
