FOR COMPLIANCE WITH THE CURRENT BUILDING CODE. ANY MODIFICATIONS OR
IMPROVEMENTS TO INADEQUATE FRAMING MEMBERS WILL BE DESIGNED AT THIS
TIME. AFTER STRUCTURAL DESIGN IS COMPLETED CONTRACTOR MAY BEGIN

STRUCTURAL FRAMING NOTES:
1. PRESSURE TREATED LUMBER IS TO BE USED WHEN IN CONTACT WITH CONCRETE, OR
WHEN EXPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS.
2. ALL CONNECTORSAND FASTENERS IN CONTACT WITH P.T. MATERIAL ARE TO BE
STAINLESS STEEL UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE.
3. ALL CONNECTORS ARE TO BE ATTACHED WITH FASTENERS OF THE SAME MATERIAL.
4. ALL EXTERIOR HARDWARE & FASTENERS GREATER THEN 1/2" SHALL BE COATED IN
G185 GALVANIZING UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE.
5. UNLESS SPECIFIED OTHERWISE, MULTIPLE PLY MEMBERS ARE TO BE SCREWED
TOGETHER FROM BOTH SIDES WITH FASTENMASTER "TLOKxx" TIMBER LOK
SCREWS SPACED 16" O.C. STAGGERED TOP & BOTTOM, W/ (2) SCREWS AT EACH
END. SCREWS TO BE FULL WIDTH OF THE BEAM
6. ALL BOLTED MEMBERS ARE TO BE BOLTED TOGETHER WITH 1 /2" THROUGH
BOLTS SPACED 16" O.C. STAGGERED, WITH (2) BOLTS AT EACH END, UNLESS
NOTED OTHERWISE.
7, ALL NAILING AND FASTENING SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH TABLE R602.3(i ),
FASTENING SCHEDULE FOR STRUCTURAL MEMBERS OF THE ABOVE REFERENCED
BASE CODE.
8. EVERY RAFTEROR TRUSS IS TO HAVE A HURRICANE TIE LOCATED ON THE SAME SIDE
OF THE FRAMING AS THE SHEATHING USE SIMPSON "H2.5�" UNLESS NOTED
OTHERWISE.
9. FRAMING MEMBERS SHALL. NOT BE NOTCHED, CUT OR ALTERED IN THE FIELD
WITHOUT THE WRITTEN APPROVAL OF THE ENGINEER.
10. ALL MULTIPLE MEMBER BEAMS THAT ARE THINNER THAN THE WALL IT IS LOCATED IN
SHALL HAVE FILLER MATERIAL SYMMETRICALLY PLACED BETWEEN EACH
MEMBER, PRIOR TO BEAM ASSEMBLY, SO THE FINAL BEAM THICKNESS WILL
MATCH THE WIDTH OF THE WALL FRAMING.
11. ALL BEAMS ARE TO BE BRACED EVERY 10' O.C. M AX. UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE.
12. UNDER ALL POSTS THERE IS TO BE SOLID BLOCKING BETWEEN JOISTS FOR THE FULL
AREA OF THE POST ABOVE
13. ALL JOISTS ARE TO BE BRACED WITH SOLID BLOCKING AT ENDS AND EVERY 8' O.C.
MAX. UNLESSNOTED OTHERWISE.
14. FRAMING MEMBERS ARE TO BE BRACED WITH SOLID BLOCKINCEPACED AT 4' O.C.

OR APPROVED EQUAL (UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED) AND SHALL MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE
AMERICAN FOREST AND PAPER ASSOCIATION. THE MINIMUM ALLOWABLE BENDING STRESS (Fb) SHALL
BE 1050 P.S.I. THE MINIMUM ALLOWABLE COMPRESSION STRESS (Fc) SHALL BE 400 P.S.I. THE MINIMUM
ALLOWABLE MODULUS OF ELASTICITY (E) SHALL BE 1,400,000 P.S.I.
2. ALL LVL'S TO BE BOISE CASCADE OR I - LEVEL WEYERHAUSER VERSA -LAM 3100FB OR APPROVED EQUAL.
THE MINIMUM ALLOWABLE BENDING STRESS (Fb) SHALL BE 3100 P.S.I. ALL LVL POSTS TO BE VERSALAM
1.7 2650 FB, 1.8E PARALLAM PSL OR APPROVED EQUAL.NISTALL LVL'S IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS.
3. USE 3/4 TONGUE AND GROOVE STRUCTURAL GRADE FIR PLYWOOD FLOOR SHEATHING, 5/8" EXTERIOR
STRUCTURAL GRADE FIR (C.D.X.) PLYWOOD ROOF SHEATHING, AND 1/2" EXTERIOR STRUCTURAL GRADE
FIR (C.D.X.) AT WALLS. ALL JOINTS SHALL BE BLOCKED WITH LUMBER OR OTHER APPROVED SUPPORTS.
4. PROVIDE SOLID BLOCKING BETWEEN FLOOR JOISTS AND/OR DOUBLE ALL JOISTS UNDER EACH
PARTITION.
5. USE FULLY NAILED METAL CONNECTORS (TECO, SIMPSON, OR EQUAL), JOIST, OR BEAM HANGERS WHEN
JOISTS OR BEAMS FRAME INTO OTHER JOISTS OR BEAMS. PROVIDE METAL POST CAPS AND BASES FOR
ALL POSTS.
6. FOR LVL BEAMS OR HEADERS PROVIDE SOLID 4X4 LVL MINIMUM POST SUPPORTS FOR DOUBLES AND
SOLID 4X6 OR 6X6 LVL MINIMUM POSTS FOR TRIPLE BEAMS OR HEADERS, OR AS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED
ON THE PLAN.
7. ALL PLYWOOD FLOOR SHEATHING SHALL BE GLUED TO SUPPORTING WOOD FRAMING MEMBERS USING
AMERICAN PLYWOOD ASSOCIATION (A.P.A.) GLUED FLOOR SYSTEM. WOOD GLUE TO BE CONTECH, INC.
PL400 SUBFLOOR CONSTRUCTION ADHESIVE, OR APPROVED EQUAL.
8. BUILT-UP BEAMS (3 PLY MAXIMUM) USING CONVENTIONAL FRAMING LUMBER SHALL BE FULLY SPIKED
TOGETHER WITH 2-10D NAILS AT 12" O.C. LVL BEAMS (4 PLY MAXIMUM) TO BE THRU-BOLTED WITH 1/2
INCH DIAMETER THRU-BOLTS OR EQUIVALENT POWER SCREWS STAGGERED TOP AND BOTTOM AT 16 "
O.C. OR AS OTHERWISE REQUIRED BY THE MANUFACTURER.
9. ALL MANUFACTURERED FLOOR I -JOISTS TO BE DESIGNED BY THE SUPPLIER/MANUFACTURER. SUBMIT
SHOP DRAWINGS AND CALCULATIONS TO THE ENGINEER PRIOR TO FABRICATION.
