HomeMy WebLinkAbout5019 228 Route 28 Letter of Opposition 30 Received 06.22.23Fallon, Dolores Subject: FW: Go Cart Track From: Kent Carlson Sent: Thursday, June 22, 2023 2:28 PM To: Fallon, Dolores <dfallon@yarmouth.ma.us> Cc: Marilyn Lucht; Trustees Subject: Go Cart Track Zoning Board of Appeals, My name is Kent Carlson. I live at 481 Buck Island Road, Unit 19A. do not approve of the Go Cart Track. I believe the original zone was for businesses, specifically hotels, restaurants, and retail. Not a Go Cart track. Especially one that is very temporary. With a large tent and food truck like a circus. And the dangerous traffic in the parking lot. If I was staying at the Sunbelt resort, I certainly would not look forward to listening to Go Carts racing as I was relaxing at the pool or on the deck. They pay good money for a little relaxation. People come to the Cape for the beaches, the restaurants, the museums, the historical sights, and the other tourist stuff. After a busy day on the Cape, the last thing they want is to listen to equivilent of a very loud neighbor cutting their grass, causing congestion on Route 28 with inadequate parking. The addition of the track is not adding to the charm of the Cape, it is detracting. The sound study the proponents offered was not very specific: What day was the ambient noise measured? What was the weather? What time was the measured? Where was it measured? Where in relation to the proposed track? On the sidewalk? In the hotel parking lot? In the restaurant parking lot? Areas that would be affected? The go carts: How many were running at once? Not all of the models were tested? They state the 4 foot masonry wall will deflect the sound level at the motel. How about the restaurant? A comprehensive sound study would probably disqualify this application. This plan is the wrong place for the track. Move it away from our money makers, the restaurants and hotels. Please reject it. Thank You Kent Carlson
