Setucket Road Culvert near #218 Emergency Repair Request
As part of ongoing stormwater maintenance earlier this month, DPW Highway was jetting through
an existing 12" RCP culvert located on an existing drainage easement (Book 361 Page 7) at 218
Setucket Road, Yarmouth Port. This culvert was installed prior to the 1982 drainage contract and
the records noted a 12" reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) approximately 225 feet long and is
approximately I V deep from the road surface. Flow through the culvert appeared limited and
jetting operation began to clear the blockage. Unfortunately, the cutter attachment got stuck and
had to be retrieved. Upon retrieval, it was discovered that the RCP transitioned to a clay pipe,
which crumbled apart and isn't adequate for drainage piping. DPW is looking for emergency
permitting to restore flow and repair 130 linear feet of 12" HDPE pipe at 0.15% slope. Project area
highlighted in yellow below.
