The dock and the existing access steps (where the utility work will take place) are all permitted under SE83-1849, issued in 2001. Description of Proposed Work The first work component consists of removing the two existing piles that are being stored under the dock, and either reinstall those, or replace them with longer piles. The two piles are permitted with the existing dock, and would be re-installed in the same locations as shown on the plan to secure the float. All work would be performed from a working barge with a pile driver. Standard conditions to avoid bottoming at low tide would be implemented. Refer to the project plan attached to this filing. The second work component is the installation of utilities from the dwelling to the dock. Electric, water, and internet cable (for a camera) would be installed in a trench along side the existing timber access steps. The trench could be hand dug, or use a specific trenching machine (not heavy equipment). The water, electric and cable lines would be laid as the trench is dug, then filled in immediately after testing. Any disturbance from the trenching would be restored to match pre-installation conditions. Refer to the project plan attached to this filing. No significant impacts are anticipated for this work. The pile work is standard, and the trenching work utilizes either hand tools or small equipment to dig the trench and install the utilities. The work spans from the resource area (Land Under Ocean for the piles), to the buffer zone of a coastal bank, and up the slope to the dwelling, out of the 100' buffer zones, as shown on the plan filed with this application. The portion of the proposed woik can be accomplished without any negative effects to the resource areas, and without any alteration of the resource areas, and within the existing footprints. Therefore, we request that this project be approved under an RDA and the project can proceed. Thank you for your consideration on approval ofthis proposed project.
