5. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHALL THE CONSTRUCTION LOAD ON THE STRUCTURE EXCEED THE
DESIGN LOAD WITHOUT SPECIFIC WRITTEN PERMISSION FROM THE ENGINEER.
WOOD CONSTRUCTION
1. WOOD CONSTRUCTION SHALL CONFORM TO 2015 NATIONAL DESIGN SPECIFICATION (NDS) FOR
WOOD CONSTRUCTION WITH 2O15 SUPPLEMENT.
2. PROVIDE STAMPED DRAWINGS AND CALCULATIONS FOR REVIEW AND APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRUSS
FABRICATION.
3. SEE PLANS FOR GENERAL LAYOUT AND CONFIGURATION OF WOOD -FRAMING. THE WALL TYPES
AND LOCATIONS HAVE BEEN COORDINATED WITH STRUCTURAL STEEL FRAMING AND SHALL NOT BE
MODIFIED WITHOUT APPROVAL.
4. COORDINATE ALL DOOR, WINDOW, AND OTHER REQUIRED OPENINGS WITH ARCHITECTURAL
DRAWINGS.
5. COORDINATE WITH MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL, PLUMBING, AND FIRE PROTECTION (MEP/FP)
DRAWINGS AS REQUIRED TO PROVIDE/ALLOW FOR OPENINGS AND PENETRATIONS, HANGING
PIPES, MECHANICAL UNITS, AND ANY OTHER EQUIPMENT.
6. ALL LUMBER USED SHALL CONFORM TO THE FOLLOWING, UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, OR
APPROVED EQUIVALENT.
A. I -JOIST (WEYERHAEUSER TRUSS JOIST TJI)
B. LAMINATED VENEER LUMBER (LVL) WEYERHAEUSER MICROLLAM LVL 2.0E
C. WOOD SCISSOR TRUSS PER MANUFACTURER- SUBMIT DESIGN CALCULATIONS FOR

D. COORDINATE WITH ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS FOR ANY LUMBER REQUIRED TO BE NOW
COMBUSTIBLE AND THE TREATMENT REQUIRED.
7. PROVIDE A MINIMUM END BEARING LENGTH OF 3 %" FOR ALL CONNECTIONS.
8. FASTENERS AND CONNECTORS USED TOGETHER SHOULD BE OF THE SAME TYPE (E.G. HOT -DIP
GALVANIZED NAILS WITH HOT -DIP GALVANIZED HANGERS).
9. ALL WOOD IN CONTACT WITH CONCRETE OR MASONRY OR EXPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS SHALL BE
PRESSURE -TREATED.
10. ALL MECHANICAL FASTENERS IN CONTACT WITH PRESSURE TREATED WOOD SHALL BE HOT -DIP
GALVANIZED PER ASTM A153 GRADE 85 MINIMUM OR MECHANICALLY DEPOSITED ZINC COATED
PER ASTM B695 CLASS 55 OR GREATER.
11. ALL MECHANICAL CONNECTORS IN CONTACT WITH PRESSURE TREATED WOOD SHALL BE HOT -DIP
GALVANIZED PER ASTM A653 CLASS G185 OR STAINLESS STEEL TYPE 304 OR 316. IF NOT
ADEQUATELY PROTECTED AGAINST CORROSION, CONNECTORS SHALL BE ISOLATED FROM CONTACT
WITH THE PRESSURE TREATED WOOD BY MEANS OF THREE LAYERS OF 15-POUND FELT PAPER.
12. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL TEMPORARILY BRACE ALL WOOD FRAMING AS REQUIRED DURING
CONSTRUCTION AND ERECTION.
13. PROVIDE TAKE-UPS DEVICES AS REQUIRED TO ACCOMMODATE WOOD SHRINKAGE AND/OR SLACK.
FOUNDATIONS
1. BACKFILL BENEATH FOUNDATIONS SHALL CONSIST OF WELL GRADED SAND AND GRAVEL AND
SHALL BE PLACED IN LAYERS NOT TO EXCEED 9" AND COMPACTED TO AT LEAST 95% OF ITS
MAXIMUM DRY DENSITY AS DETERMINED BY ASTM D1557 OR BEAR DIRECTLY ON THE LEDGE.
