24 HOUR PROTECTION
April 25, 2023
Yarmouth Building and Fire Departments
1146 Route 28
Yarmouth, MA 02664
Alarm Narrative—Nauset Disposal—Office Building
61 Commonwealth Ave. South Yarmouth, MA
Manager: Tim Delude, 508-958-2222
Description - This is an existing wood framed two story structure that has reopened under new
ownership for the continued use as office space for a trucking/disposal company. There is no
basement and the total square footage on the two stories is 3450sqft. The building is not
sprinkled.
Code Requirements—MA Building code designates the use group as B and does not require a
fire alarm system for the use group. There are no special considerations that would require
protection, supervision, or control functions provided by a fire alarm system.
Design Objective—The owner would like to install a voluntary system for the primary purpose
of property protection. Horn/strobes will be placed throughout for life safety notification.
System Components & Installation- The fire system will consist of a conventional Napco
Firewolf 8 zone fire alarm control panel (FACP) with 24 hour battery back-up. A fire listed
cellular radio will provide sole path or backup communications. The FACP will be located in the
electrical room with a keypad annunciator by the front door.
Fire detection and notification appliances will be installed per the submitted plan. Field
modifications for locations and device types may be required. As-builts will be provided on
completion to reflect any changes.
The system will meet 2013 NFPA 72 standards except regarding detector spacing per 17.5.3.3
All devices and wiring will be listed and approved and comply with 527 CMR-12.00.
Bathrooms and public spaces will have strobe lights per ADA and 521 CMR requirements.
Manual pull stations will be located at the 3 first floor exits.
Operation - Upon a general fire alarm the horns will pulse a temporal 3 evacuation tone and the
strobe lights will flash. Our UL listed Central Station will be notified via the landline or cellular
communicator. The alarm will then be retransmitted to the Cotuit fire department specifying the
zone in alarm. Silencing and reset are done at the keypad annunciator with a code number.
Trouble conditions will tone at the annunciator and be transmitted for caretaker response.
Seaside Alarms will perform a 100%operational test and provided the required NFPA record of
completion, UL certificates, as-built,battery calculations, etc. at the final inspection.
Monitoring and service— Seaside Alarms will provide monitoring by our UL listed central
station. Test signals will be sent to central station by the cellular and/or landline communicators
to ensure operation and a signal path. Sole path communications will have an hourly test signal
dual path phone and cell will test every 6 hours.
Seaside Alarms will provide routine service, inspections, and emergency repairs for this system.

1j)Smoke Detector Specifications
- • ( .'n ing .- ation
Smoke detector shall be a System Sensor i3 Series model number listed to Underwriters Laboratories UL 268 for Fire Protection Signaling Systems. The
detector shall be a photoelectric type(Model 2W-B,4W-B)or a combination photoelectric/thermal(Model 2WT-B,4WT-B)with thermal sensor rated at 135°F
(57.2°C).The detector shall include a mounting base for mounting to 31/2-inch and 4-inch octagonal,single-gang,and 4-inch square back boxes with a plaster
ring,or direct mount to the ceiling using drywall anchors.Wiring connections shall be made by means of SEMS screws. The detector shall allow pre-wiring of the
base and the head shall be a plug-in type. The detector shall have a nominal sensitivity of 25 percent-per-foot nominal as measured in the UL smoke box.The
detector shall be capable of automatically adjusting its sensitivity by means of drift compensation and smoothing algorithms. The detector shall provide dual-
color LED indication that blinks to indicate power up,normal standby, out of sensitivity, alarm, and freeze trouble(Model 2WT-B,4WT-B)conditions.When used
in conjunction with the 2W-MOD2 module,2-wire models shall include a maintenance signal to indicate the need for maintenance at the alarm control panel
and shall provide a loop testing capability to verify the circuit without testing each detector individually.
