Subject: Petition 5045
I am a neighbor of the Village Green Motel, and I'm writing in support of Petition 5045 that
asks the Zoning Board of Appeals to appeal the building commissioner's decision to allow
100% seasonal employee housing at the Village Green Motel using the "transient" definition in
the zoning bylaws. The petition asks the ZBA to reverse the building commissioner's decision
and to provide "clarification/resolution of apparent conflict between use of transient definition
as it relates to seasonal employees residing in hotels/motels and zoning bylaw 404.5 regarding
seasonal employee housing at hotels/motels."
Although it appears the Village Green Motel is being managed as a "tourist motel" this summer
with a limited amount of seasonal workers living at the motel, we also realize this could change
next year as the motel is still for sale through Carey Commercial Realty. The current owner,
John Hynes, a new owner or a lessee could once again attempt to use the motel for 100%
seasonal worker housing using the "transient" loophole, which is the reason its important that
this
loophole be clarified/resolved.
Please help our neighborhood to resume its peaceful and happy atmosphere by clarifying and
resolving this transient "loophole" used by the Village Green Motel.
