(a.) I certify that the flush mounted non -glossy all black rooftop solar panel array will be affixed to the
dark colored shingled roof of a single-family dwelling that is less than seventy-five (75) years of age and
according to the Town Tax Assessor's records was built in 1982
(b.) I certify that the dwelling is not part of a listed contributing property on the Massachusetts or National
Register of Historic Buildings and Sites.
(c.) I certify that the solar panel array will not be visible from Route 6A, or any other road designated
under M.G.L. Chapter 40 Section 15C, or other authority, as a scenic road.
(d) I certify that the length of the single-family dwelling's roof ridgeline is less than 50' and is
50 feet, the height of the roof is less than 35' and is 13.9 feet, and the roof pitch ratio
is not greater than 7 over 12 and is 7/12
The solar panel array must meet the combination of a., b., c., & d. and failure to meet any one of the four
listed requirements above shall render the project ineligible for this residential solar panel array
exemption.
Attached and submitted herewith is: (L) a Certified Plot Plan showing the location of the dwelling on its
lot. (2.) A plan showing accurately the layout and location for the solar panel array and that the shape is a
contiguous rectangular pattern and not broken up with visual gaps or disjointed sections. (3.) A copy of
the Manufacturer's printed solar panel specifications verifying that the non -glossy black solar panel
thickness will not exceed 2" and the non -glossy black roof rack specifications showing that the top
surface of the solar panel array's height will not be more than 6" above the dark shi WO A V C D

The following information constitutes a summary of the relevant design criteria and recommendations for the support of a new photovoltaic
[PV] system on the existing roof framing components at the above -referenced location.
Criteria is as follows:
1. Existing roof framing:
Conventional roof framing at R1 is 2x8 at 16 o.c.; existing rafter span= 12' 0"; (horizontal projection)
2. Roof Loading:
• 3.Opsf dead load (pounds per square foot - PV panels, mounting rails & hardware)
• 6.3psf - existing roof loads (2.3 psf - 2x8 framing, 1.5psf roof sheathing, 2.5 psf shingles)
• Ground Snow Load - 30psf -per AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction)
• Wind criteria - Exposure Category B, 140 mph wind
3. Existing Roof modification - none required; existing roof framing is acceptable for PV installation.
This installation design is in general conformance with the manufacturers' specifications and complies with all applicable laws, codes, and
ordinances — specifically the International Building Code (2015 edition) and the International Residential Code (2015 edition), including all
Massachusetts regulations and amendments.
The spacing and fastening of the mounting brackets is a maximum of 48" o.c. between mounting brackets (staggered) and is secured using
5/16" diameter corrosive -resistant steel lag bolts. A minimum of 2M!" of penetration (embedment) per lag bolt is required, which will resist all
stated loads above — including wind shear. Per NDS Section 12.1.4, clearance holes - equal to the diameter of the shank - need to be
bored into a primary framing member for the full-length of the threaded portion of the bolt to avoid splitting of the framing member.
