Picking plan;
A four point picking beam with cables dropped through holes cut in the roof peak attached to
the four cables connected to the floor joists for hoisting the structure. The total weight of the
structure is probably less than 5,000 pounds. The four cables are rated for more than twice the
5,000 pounds for a large margin of error during hoisting. The hoisting will be done by a crane
company to be determined after bids.
Pic 1 Nailed collar tie.
Pic 2 Through bolted all collar ties to prevent separation during hoisting.
Pic 8 Left and right rim joists held together in 3 places with cables and turnbuckles.
Pic 16 Four 2,880 lb. 9 foot cables attached to the lower part of the 2" x 10" joists. More than 11,000
pounds of rated capacity for hoisting.
Pic 11 Existing rafters secured to the existing top plate with galvanized steel straps.
Pic 7 Floor joists blocked down the center and the 4 hoisting cables viewed looking towards the front
door.
Pic 6 The same as the previous note facing the existing cottage.
Pic 17 The finished subfloor with the hoisting cables coiled out of the way.
Pic20 The two 3/4" plywood braces to keep the open end stable while hoisting.
Pic 18 North wall new stud framing screwed through from the exterior.
Pic 19 South wall new stud framing screwed through from the exterior.
