Dear Mr. Sears and Mr. Hook:
Thank you for your letters dated 2/15/22 and 2/16/22 regarding 18 Lewis Bay Blvd, West
Yarmouth MA 02673. Thanks also to Mr. Sears for the helpful phone call on 3/1/2022.
I appreciate you both for bringing this concern to my attention.
As I discussed with Mr. Sears, I have recently taken responsibility for this property—my dad is
deceased, and my mom has dementia. My parents had used five bedrooms in this house for
many years, and I was not aware that the septic was only scaled for three bedrooms or that the
assessor's office listed the property as four bedrooms.
Now that I am aware, I am working to address the situation by investigating whether we can
increase the size of the septic. I am in the process of hirirrg an engineer to complete a perc test
and determine if the land would support a larger system. Needless to say, that will take some
time.
Meanwhile, we will comply with the current septic and limit use of the house to a maximum of
8 people.
I also wanted to confirm my understanding from my conversation with Mr. Sears that our
recent work was properly permitted and inspected. I believe what was missing was a "change
of use" permit. We did not file that since we did not know this was change of use. If that is not
correct, please let me know. I relied on the contractor to pull the proper permits, and I believe
that was done correctly.
I also wanted to draw your attention to the fact that there is a typo in my address in the letter
from Mr. Hook—my mailing address is 101 Lenox Avenue, Albany NY, 12203. I have not yet
received the permit noted in the sticky note you attached to the letter, perhaps because of the
address issue?
