GENERAL NOTES:
1. CONSTRUCTION SHALL COMPLY WITH THE MASSACHUSETTS STATE BUILDING
CODE (780 CMR 9TH EDITION), STATE AND LOCAL BUILDING REGULATIONS AND
THE MASSACHUSETTS ARCHITECTURAL ACCESS BARRIERS REGULATIONS (521
CMR) AND THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT (ADA).
2. ACCESS INTO AREAS OTHER THAN DESIGNATED IN THE CONTRACT
DOCUMENTS IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED. THE AREAS ADJACENT TO THE
PROJECT AREA WILL REMAIN OCCUPIED. ELECTRICAL, MECHANICAL,
PLUMBING AND FIRE PROTECTION SERVICES TO THOSE AREAS MUST REMAIN
OPERATIONAL DURING CONSTRUCTION.
3. CONTRACTOR SHALL FIELD VERIFY ALL DIMENSIONS AND NOTIFY THE
ARCHITECT IMMEDIATELY OF ANY DISCREPANCIES IN THE CONTRACT
DOCUMENTS.
4. USE OF THE OWNER'S DUMPSTERS IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
5. CONTRACTOR SHALL DISPOSE OF ALL DEMOLISHED MATERIALS OFF —SITE AND
IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS
REGULATIONS. DEMOLITION MATERIALS SHALL BE REMOVED FROM THE SITE
ON A DAILY BASIS.
6. ALL UTILITY SHUTDOWNS SHALL BE COORDINATED IN ADVANCE WITH THE
OWNER AND ARCHITECT.
7. CONTRACTOR SHALL FIELD CUT ALL NEW PENETRATIONS THROUGH FLOOR
AND CEILING AS CLOSE AS PRACTICALLY POSSIBLE TO EXISTING WALLS AND
ADJACENT PENETRATIONS. CORED HOLES AND PENETRATIONS SHALL BE NO
MORE THAN 1" DIAMETER GREATER THAN THE PIPE OR CONDUIT THAT IS TO
PASS THROUGH THE HOLE. CORES 2" AND LESS SHALL BE DONE BY THE
SUBCONTRACTORS. CORES GREATER THAN 2" SHALL BE DONE BY THE
CONTRACTOR.
8. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BROOM CLEAN THE PROJECT AREA AT THE END OF
EACH WORK DAY AND MAINTAIN AREAS ADJACENT TO THE PROJECT IN A
CLEAN AND UNOBSTRUCTED MANNER.
9. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SECURITY IN THE PROJECT AREA.
10. MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR
CUTTING, CAPPING AND/OR VALVING OF THE RESPECTIVE SERVICES TO MAKE
THE PROJECT AREA SAFE DURING DEMOLITION. ALL TEMPORARY
SHUTDOWNS FOR ESTABLISHING THE NECESSARY CROSS CONNECTIONS OR
TIE—INS SHALL BE FULLY COORDINATED WITH THE OWNER AND ARCHITECT IN
ADVANCE. SEE MECHANICAL, PLUMBING AND ELECTRICAL DRAWINGS FOR
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
11. ALL WORK IS "NEW" UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.

NOTES AND SPECIFICATIONS
1. All work to be done in accordance with State and Local Building Codes.
2. The Contractor shall be responsible for all permits and fees.
3. The work at all times shall be kept clean and debris shall not accumulate. All work
related debris, material and equipment shall be hauled away and disposed of by the
Contractor.
4. The Contractor shall guarantee all work and materials for a term of one (1) year from
date of acceptance of work.
5. The Contractor shall provide a Certificate of Insurance acceptable to the Owner.
6. Perform work and provide material and equipment for a complete and operational
H.V.A.C. system, material and equipment shall be Underwriters Laboratory (UL) listed.
7. Provide supply and return registers of type, size and manufacturers as indicated
Devices shall be certified, tested and rated in accordance with ADC.
8. Air terminals shall be coordinated with reflected ceiling plan and shall be provided with
finish as approved by the Architect
9. Materials and equipment shall be new unless otherwise noted.
10. Provide qualified personnel, equipment, apparatus and services for testing, balancing
and adjusting of excisting mechanical systems to performance data shown. Notify
Architect at least forty-eight (48) hours prior to testing and inspection. Submit
testing & balancing report.
11. All ductwork shall be fabricated and installed in accordance with SMACNA standards, minimum
24 gauge. Seal al joints & seams with duct sealer. Ductwork shall be rated for 2" w.g.
12. All refrigerant piping shall be type 'ACR' copper tube, hard drawn, shipped w/ end caps in place.
Pipe and fittings shall conform to ANSI B31.5 and ANSI B9.1. Joints shall be silver soldered or brazed.
13. All condensate drain piping shall be type "L' copper tubing. Soldered or Press Fittings are allowed.
14. Ductwork above ceilings shall be insulated with fiberglass blanket -type insulation with
minimum R-value of 6.0.
15. Refrigerant piping shall be insulated with 1" thick closed cell pipe insulation similar to Armorcell
or equal. Condensate drain piping shall be insulated with 1/2 thick fiberglass pipe insulation
or closed -cell insulation. Exposed pipe insulation outside shall have PVC jacket added.
Provide slim -duct pipe enclosure for outdoor refrigerant pipe risers.
16. Provide all control wiring and components to make for a fully functioning HVAC system.
Control wiring shall connect to existing building control system.
