THE ARE ALARM SYSTEM DEVICES INCLUDES: SMOKE DETECTORS, HEAT DETECTORS, MANUAL PULL STATIONS, AUDIO/STROBE UNiTS AND STROBE ONLY UNITS. ALL OF THESE INITIATING DEVICES (SMOKE DETECTORS, MANUAL PULL STATIONS) SHALL BE TIED TO THE BUILDING FIRE ALARM SYSTEM AND SHALL REPORT APPROPRIATELY TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT OR CELL COMMUNICATOR. THE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM SHALL OPERATE AS FOLLOWS ALARM - WHENEVER ANY MANUAL PULL STATION, SMOKE DETECTOR, OR HEAT DETECTOR, IS ACTIVATED, ALL BUILDING AUDIO/STROBES, EXTERIOR WEATHER-PROOF BEACON WILL ACTIVATE AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT OR CENTRAL STATION MONITORING COMPANY WILL BE NOTIFIED OF THE ALARM CONDITION. E CI +1 U a 0 FIRE ALARM SYSTEM: A WORK INCLUDED: 1) WORK UNDER THIS SECTION INCLUDES THE INSTALLATION OF COMPONENTS TO FORM A COMPLETE AND OPERATIVE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM. 2) WORK SHALL INCLUDE, BUT NOT UMTTED TO, THE FOLLOWING: A) INSTALLATION OF NEW FIRE ALARM SYSTEM COMPONENTS AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT B) TESTING 3) FURNISH AND INSTALL A COMPLETE CODE COMPLIANT FIRE ALARM SYSiEM AS DESCRIBED HEREIN AND AS SHOWN ON THE PLANS; TO BE WIRED, CONNECTED, AND LEFT iN FIRST-CLASS OPERATING CONDITION. THE SYSTEM SHALL INCLUDE MANUAL STATIONS, AUTOMATIC FIRE DETECTORS, AUDIOVISUAL DEVICES, STROBES, BEACON, ALL WIRING, CONDUIT, CONNECTIONS TO DEVICES, CONNECTIONS TO SPRINKLER FLOW AND TAMPER SWITCHES, ZONE MODULES, ARE ALARM ANNUNCIATOR, OUTLET BOXES, JUNCTION BOXES AND ALL OTHER NECESSARY MATERIAL FOR A COMPLETE OPERATING SYSTEM. MANUFACTURER FOR ALL FIRE ALARM SYSTEM DEVICES SHALL BE FIRE-UTE ALARMS, SIEMENS, OR FCi. 4) THE WORK COVERED BY THIS SECTION OF THE SPECIFICATIONS INCLUDES THE FURNISHING OF ALL LABOR, EQUIPMENT, MATERIALS AND PERFORMANCE OF ALL OPERATIONS IN CONNECTION WiTH THE INSTALLATION OF THE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM AS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS AND AS HEREIN SPECIFIED. 5) THE COMPLETE INSTALLATION IS TO CONFORM TO THE APPLICABLE SECTIONS OF NFPA-72, LOCAL CODE REQUIREMENTS AND MASSACHUSETTS ELECTRICAL CODE. 6) THE WORK COVERED BY THIS SECTION OF THE SPECIFICATIONS IS TO BE COORDINATED WiTH THE RELATED WORK AS SPECIFIED ELSEWHERE UNDER THE PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS. 7) THE ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR IS TO COORDINATE THE INSTALLATION, FINAL CONNECTIONS AND TESTING WiTH THE BUILDING MANAGER/OWNERS FIRE ALARM SYSTEM CONTRACTOR/SERVICE COMPANY. ALL COSTS ASSOCIATED WiTH THE BUILDING MANAGER/OWNERS CONTRACTORS AS IT RELATES TO THIS PROJECT WILL BE PAID BY THIS CONTRACTOR AS PART OF HIS BASE BID. FIRE ALARM NOTES: 1. ALL FIRE ALARM SYSTEM RACEWAY SIZES AND CIRCUITRY REQUIREMENTS SHALL BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WiTH EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURERS WIRING DIAGRAM, SHOP DRAWINGS AND ALL CODES THAT MAY APPLY. 2. REFER TO FLOOR PLANS FOR EXACT LOCATIONS AND QUANTITIES OF ALL DEVICES. 3. ALL SHIELDS ON ADDRESSABLE SIGNAL CIRCUITS AND HORN CIRCUITS SHALL BE COVERED WiTH HEAT SHRINK TUBING BEFORE TERMINATION. 4. PROVIDE ALL EQUIPMENT, PROGRAMMING & WIRING REQUIRED FOR A COMPLETE CODE COMPLIANT SYSTEM. 5. SUBMIT PLANS TO LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT TO OBTAIN PERMITS FOR NEW FIRE ALARM SYSTEM. CERTIFY THAT THE SYSTEM HAS BEEN TESTED BY THE INSTALLER AND SUBMIT CERTIFICATION TO THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT PRIOR TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT FINAL INSPECTION. 6. PROVIDE ALL FIUNG, PERMIT & FIRE DEPARTMENT INSPECTION FEES. 7. ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL PROGRAM FIRE ALARM SYSTEM AND ADD POWER SUPPLIES, SIGNAL MODULES, AMPLIFIERS, BOOSTERS, ETC. AS REQUIRED. THE ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL NECESSARY EQUIPMENT, FINAL CONNECTIONS, PROGRAMMING AND PERFORM ALL TESTING. B. CIRCUIT BREAKER SERVING ARE ALARM POWER SUPPLY SHALL BE EQUIPPED WITH LOCKABLE HANDLE, AND HAVE RED NAMEPLATE/LABEL 9. ALL FIRE ALARM WIRING SHALL BE INSTALLED IN CONDUIT. WIRING TO BE INSTALLED CONCEALED IN CEILING OR WALLS SHALL BE PERMITTED TO BE TYPE MC FIRE ALARM CABLE. 10. MAINTAIN A MINIMUM OF 25% SPARE CAPACITY ON ALL ADDRESSABLE LOOPS AND ALL HORN AND STROBE CIRCUITS. 11. FURNISH AND INSTALL ALL EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR THE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM TO BE INTERCONNECTED WiTH THE FOLLOWING SYSTEM: • THE SECURITY SYSTEM TO UNLOCK ALL DOORS IN THE EGRESS PATH UPON AN ALARM SIGNAL • THE LIGHTING CONTROL AND DIMMING SYSTEMS TO BRING LIGHTING TO FULL ILLUMINATION UPON AN ALARM SIGNAL •THE SOUND SYSTEMS TO BE MUTED UPON AN ALARM SIGNAL 12.
