Mr. Martin,
This memorandum is a follow-up to the June 16, 2023 Coastal Engineering Company, Inc. (CEC) report
that provided recommendations for structural repairs to the small residential building that had suffered
from sill rot and potential foundation settlement.
The June 16, 2023 report called for the installation of new (Sonotube-style) concrete piers, some with 10"
diameters and some with 12" diameters. However, a Building Inspector visit, (confirmed later on October
19, 2023 by CEC), found that each of the ten (10) newly-installed concrete piers are only 8" in diameter.
To address this non-conformance, CEC recommends that four (4) additional 8u-diameter concrete piers be
installed according to the attached "Sketch 2 (Revised 10/23/2023)N. Each new concrete pier shall be
placed on compacted soils at least 4 feet below finished grade.

This revision is made to address a constructed non-conformance.
The non-conformance is that the ten(10)recently installed concrete piers 1,
denoted on the 6/15/2023 Sketch 2 and on this 10/24/2023 Sketch 2
as 10"-diameter piers(`)and 12"-diameter piers(")were instead
constructed as 8"-diameter piers.
To address this non-conformance,install four(4)new 8"-diameter concrete
— piers as where indicated. Ensure that the bottom of each pier is 4'-0"min.
