Re; Petition 5063 - Tugboats Restaurant Special permit application
Hello Ms Fallon,
I am opposed to granting a permit to Tugboats Restaurant or The Harbour Club, Inc., for them to
present live instrumental band or recorded music in their establishment. My objection applies to both
Weekday and Sunday permit requests.
I am thankful that The Town of Yarmouth has this permit process, that Tugboats has respectfully
applied for and that we folks that live in the nearby neighborhood are included in the considerations
within the system.
Beside the beauty and warm neighborly feeling of our community, the serenity is a key component of
why I chose to have a home in West Yarmouth. My property is less than 750 feet from Tugboats
establishment. This proximity is one of the central reasons I am opposed to allowing this permit to be
approved.
I work in the film and television business as a Director of Photography and have vast experience with
live music for performance in small clubs, dinner theater and in Broadway Theater. From my
experience I can assure you that music, both live and recorded has high and low wave lengths that
transmit through even the thickest of walled in enclosures. Whether the music performances are set in
exterior or interior locations, the Tugboats building structure will offer little to no sound dampening
attributes in the low end bass or the high end treble wavelengths.
A final point, any musical entertainment coming from a next door neighbor, starting at 11:30 AM and
continuing until 11:30PM is unacceptable and disrespectful to the surrounding neighborhood.
Tugboats or anyone for that matter would find the aural intrusion a really big problem.
Cordially,
Rick Siegel
