Subject: Construction Inspections - Foundation, Wall & Roof Renovations
Location: 5 Buckwood Way, South Yarmouth, MA
Dear Mr. Sears:
In accordance with Paras. R106.1 & R109.1.1 of the State Building
Code this letter shall serve as a documentation of compliance by the
foundation and frame to the building code. It includes review and the
use of both the existing construction and a shallow foundation design.
Construction has followed along w/ field observations to increase the
lateral and vertical (gravity & uplift) connections. It is open for
rough inspection:
• Roof - Undersized 2"x 4" rafters were re-configured w/ additional
web chords to create a modified W-style truss - nailed connections.
• Wall - New walls are WFCM constructed w/ 6" o/c perimeter nailing
including blocking at horizontal seams. Old walls were stiffened
by adding additional studding and tying the ceiling to the gable.
o Floor - The floor is new; short span 2"x 6" PT Joists and a flush
framed PT Girt set on load points. At this point air-paper has been
installed to create the stops for the closed cell spray-foam floor
insulation - to be added after the framing inspection and before the
sub-floor gets installed.
• Foundation - The corner and line load points are supported on concrete
piers (inspected 5 MAY 23) . The perimeter line was excavated to a
coarse free-draining sand (non-frost susceptible) and filled w/ stone
back to grade. The perimeter is closed to grade w/ an Azek skirtboard.
I have been involved and on-site to observe work starting mid-April
and have continued through to the present time. The framing will meet
MAR 780, the Mass. 2015 State Building Code, 9th ed. and will be suit-
able for its' intended occupany upon completion of the finish work.
Respectfully submitted,
1
