Dear Mr, Keefe:
SUBJECT. 9 Homer Avenue, South Yarmouth_
2 ((-ZIA
On June 23, 2011, members of the Yarmouth Historical Commission paid a site visit to this
address to evaluate whether the property is a significant structure that enhances the history,
architecture, and culture of Yarmouth and whether the demolition and rebuild of the rear ell(s) that
you had requested was detrimental to Yarmouth's heritage.
Because there was a quorum present, the members were able to vote on the house's significance
at the end of the tour. The members found the original "front" house to be significant and
discussed proposed changes with you. They agreed to the possible relocation of the staircase
and the demolition and rebuild of the front dormer (centering the dormer on the roof). They found
that the historic integrity of the rear ells had been compromised by renovations undertaken by
previous owners. Since the demolition of the ell(s) was the subject of your application, the
members voted unanimously that a demolition delay was not warranted for the ell(s) and no
demolition -delay period will be pursued.
The Commission also requested that you provide elevations of the finalized project when they are
available. The members reserved the right to review the finalized drawings prior to approving the
rebuild.
Sincerely,
Gina Lombardi, Chairman
Yarmouth Historic Commission
