24 River Street Proposed Renovations ListRenovations at 24 & 24A River Street: Fg Konstantin Aleksandrov, contractor, for this property located in the Bass River/South Yarmouth Historic District, has proposed the following renovations that require the YHC to determine whether or not these alterations are "substantial" in which case this would be referred to the Cape Cod Commission for their review and approval. • Lift houses and pour foundations- currently no foundation except a small portion of 24 River- not original to the house • Change siding: The existing siding is vinyl. He wants to replace it for combination of Fiber cement clap boards (matching the existing color -mild blue to the best extent possible) at the front and white cedar shingles elsewhere. • Change roofing: The existing roofing is three tab shingle which was popular in the '80s. He wants to replace it with architectural type asphalt roofing shingles (they resemble cedar shakes a little better and are pretty much the industry standard now). The color that he's planning to use is weathered wood which is mild brown/gray and mimics old cedar roofing. • Demo chimneys- not original to the house and leaks. • Replace windows - not original to the house • Add roof over bulkhead access- currently water runs down and fills up under house - needs to be diverted • Add 4 skylights to # 24 - 2 will be up on second floor - hardly visible from street level and 2 will be outback not visible from street • Add 2 skylights to # 24a -structure is in the back of the lot - not visible from street. • Remove trees in the work area Substantial Alteration: An Alteration that jeopardizes an historic structure's individual eligibility for listing in the National Register of Historic Places, or its status as a contributing structure in a National Register Historic District.
