Hi Karen, I'm happy to talk about this project sometime this week or next (Monday/Tuesday/Thursday). I'll be out on vacation the week of March 17, so won't be available to join the meeting. Lisa's notes capture the key issues to consider in evaluating the demolition delay: The preference would be to preserve and reuse the oldest portion of the building as a guest house or appendage to the new construction on its current site, or to relocate the oldest part of the building to another site nearby where it could be preserved. Advertising the building's availability for moving to another property is typically done through local news articles/advertisements and through the CCC's Demolition Delay Network. Beyond that, photo - documenting the building to create a strong local record and salvaging building materials for re -use are important. When it comes to salvaging historic buildings, I often refer folks to David Ottinger, who has worked on numerous Cape Cod historic structures. His contact info is: davidottinger@hotmail.com I'm sure there are other folks around who do the same work. Hope that helps. Wanted to give you heads up in case you'd like to attend. In any event, I'd appreciate it if we could touch base ahead of time. We will be reaching out to the applicant to request their plans for restoration/re-use etc. for the Commission's consideration. Looking at Lisa's notes, we have the following as suggestions you made: • Preserve some elements • advertise availability for re -use • incorporate some of significant elements into design • allow materials to be salvaged • allow photo documentation Do you have any suggestions regarding outreach to businesses that do Salvage or places to advertise availability of items? One of our commissioners has a contact, but I am hesitant to provide only 1 option as it may present a kind of conflict. Thanks so much for all your help on this. Best, Karen Karen M.
