HomeMy WebLinkAbout71-77 South Street Demo Memo to applicant 1.20.2015Vozella, Beth From: Vozella, Beth Sent: Tuesday, January 20, 2015 9:19 AM To: 'Jeff Baroni' Cc: Julie Mockabee (vanguard31@verizon.net); Greene, Karen; Grylls, Mark Subject: Demolition Request: 71-77 South Street, South Yarmouth, MA Dear Jeff, As you know, the Yarmouth Historical Commission and staff conducted a site visit at 71-77 South Street on January 8, 2015 at 2:00 pm, to observe the conditions of the shed and garage proposed for demolition. After the site visit, a Yarmouth Historical Commission meeting took place at which a quorum was present and the members were provided with background/historical information regarding these structures. After discussing the property at length, no historical, architectural, or cultural significance that would be important to the Town of Yarmouth was found. However, the Committee noted that a few of the windows on the shed seem to have some significance due to the mere fact of their age and suggest that they try to be salvaged if not for use in the rebuilds, then possibly for some other use. In addition they noted that, in their opinion, it would add continuity amongst the buildings if the gable design on the main house be incorporated into the gable on the new garage. A vote was taken, and the Commission unanimously determined that no demolition delay would be imposed on this property. You are, therefore, released from any further demolition delay process. You and your client are free to pursue the demolition and rebuild of these out buildings. Thank you (and Chris Beasley) for your cooperation in this matter. please don't hesitate to contact me should you have any further questions.
