HomeMy WebLinkAbout29 Scallop Rd Memo to Hanlon re Significant Determination 4.15.2016Vozella, Beth From: Vozella, Beth Sent: Friday, April 15, 2016 11:43 AM To: hanlonhomes@comcast.net Cc: Julie Mockabee (vanguard31@verizon.net) Subject: 29 Scallop Attachments: 29 Scallop.PDF; CH 92 HISTOIRC PROPERTIES as amended 7-21-11.pdf; Public Hearing 05-06-16.pdf Importance: High Hi Jack - Just want to let you know that the Yarmouth Historic Commission met yesterday afternoon regarding the demolition application for 29 Scallop Rd. Attached is the letter that was mailed out yesterday informing you (as Owner's Agent) and the Owner of the outcome of that meeting. I'm sure it's no surprise that the "main house" has been officially deemed to be significant, which as we discussed, brings us to the next step of the demolition of an historic property process which is to hold a public hearing. This hearing has been scheduled for Friday, May 6, 2016 at 10:OOAM in the Hearing Room at the Yarmouth Town Hall. The attached legal notice will be published in The Register on Thursday, April 21't and Thursday, April 28tn As we discussed and per CH 92.3(G) of the Yarmouth Town By -Law, if "The Commission is satisfied that there is no reasonable likelihood that either the owner or some other person or group is willing to purchase, preserve, rehabilitate or restore such building" the commission has the option to either reduce the 180 day period to a lesser amount of time or release the property from the full demo delay requirement all together. To that end (and to expedite this process) I suggest that the following documentation/evidence be presented at the public hearing: • Realtor/MLS listings (include listing dates and feedback) • Salvage companies (include names, dates and summary of discussions) • Town of Chatham (include names, dates and summary of discussions) • Structural Engineer report(s) • Advertising (i.e. Cape Cod Times) I know that the Commission is grateful for the heartfelt efforts that you have put forth in looking for ways to preserve or salvage this once beautiful home. It is a shame that it was not given the care it so deserved and it's heartbreaking to watch another piece of Old Cape Cod come to its demise in this way. Please don't hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or concerns. Regards, -Beth PS: Would you be available to accompany myself and a few other members of the Historical Commission for one last site visit on Friday, April 26t6 between 9am-10am?
