108.8 Thc orvncrs of all rcntal units, as defincd in 108.2, shall bc required to certify annually that operating smoke
dctectors havc becn placcd in the rental r.rnit. The smoke dctcctors and locations thereof shall be satisfactory to
thc Yamrourh Fire Departmerrl.
NOTE: Carbon Monoxide Detectors are required in any dwelting with Oil. Gas, Coal. or rvood-buming equipment and/or
a structurally encloscd or attached garagc in accordance with MGL 148. sec. 26F l2 and 527cMR-3 1 .00

108.2 No person shall rent or lease, or offer to rellt or lease, any building or any portion of a building to be used for hunran
habitation rvithoul first registering with the Board ofHealth, rvhich shall detennine the nunrber ofpersons such building or portion
ofa building mav lawfully accommodate undcr the provisions ofthe Massachusetts State Sanitary Code. and without first
also conspicuously posting within such building or portion ot'a building a certificate of registration providcd by the Board of
Hcalth specifying thc nurnbcr ofpcrsons such a building or portion ofa building nay lawfully accommodatc.
108.4 There shall be a fee to procure a certificate of registration, rvhich shall bc valid for one ( I ) year or to December J I of each
ycar. whichevcr is sooner. Thercafter the permit shall be annually renerved.
108.5 A pemrit issucd under this chapter shall be rcvoked il', at any time, thc licensing authorities arc satisficd that thc licensee is
unfit to hold the license. They may suspend and make inoperative, for such period of time as they may deem proper, the
permit mentioned herein lor any cause deemed satisfactory to thenl. The revocation and suspension shall not be made
until aftcr invcstgation and a hearing or after giving thc licensec an opportunity to be hcard. Noticc of the hearing shall
be delivered to the pemrittee not less than three (3) days before the time of the said hearing.

108.6 Any pcrson or tenant violating any provision of this chapter shall be punishcd by a fine ofnot morc rhan nao hundred dollars
(5200.00). Each day's violation constitutes a separate offense.
