Expiration Date: 5/17/2024
Approved documents: Site Plan by Down Cape Engineering, dated 5/8/2021
Dear Ms. DiRienzo and members of the Yarmouth Conservation Commission,
Please accept this letter on behalf of our clients, Dave and Eldie Acheson, as a request for an
extension for the permit issued under SE 83-2279. This permit was issued to re-build an existing
licensed pier, install several coir fiber rolls to help stabilize the bank, and re-vegetate the bank and
top of bank with native species of grasses and shrubs. The permit was issued on 5/17/2021 and is set
to expire on 5/17/2024. To date, the licensed pier has been re-constructed, the coir fiber rolls were
installed in August 2021, and plantings were installed in September 2021. Maintenance has been
ongoing over the last couple of years to manage invasive or aggressive species, place supplemental
nourishment to restore the bank profile following annual storm seasons, and plant supplemental
beachgrass as necessary following annual storm seasons.
At this time, Crawford Land Management would like to request an extension for a period of 3 years to
continue to monitor and maintain the coastal bank. This additional monitoring and maintenance will
help ensure that the fiber rolls remain covered so that they don’t degrade more quickly from sunlight
exposure. It will also help ensure that there is adequate nourishment on the bank following storm
events and help ensure that native plantings are able to successfully establish and sustain.
We thank you for your consideration in this matter. Please advise if you should require any additional
information or materials. A physical copy of this letter as well as a check for the required extension
fee will be supplied to your office shortly.
Regards,
Lauren Taylor, Restoration Designer
