66 GRANDVIEW
SOUTH YARMOUTH, MA
SHELLFISH SURVEY DESCRIPTION
INTRODUCTION
On March 19, 2024 John Lowell and Bob Chapman conducted a shellfish survey from MHW into theBass River as 66 Grandview in South Yarmouth. The purpose of the survey was to evaluate shellfish
habitat, shellfish species, and shellfish population density within the proposed project area.
SITE DESCRITION
The site is located the western bank of Bass River near what is locally known as “the speed channel”. The proposed project involves the construction of a pier, ramp, and float system
to allow for access to the water and a place for boat storage.
THECHNIQUE
A grid system was established using lines and stakes and a standard quahog rake lined with 1/2” mesh. These are established practices that we have employed on Yarmouth and surrounding
communities for decades.
