Project Description The project was approved for invasive species management and ecological restoration. The approved work is divided and managed within 3 zones; Zone 1 includes management of approximately 11,950 sqft of Phragmites, Zone 2 includes management of approximately 3,500 sqft of sporadic Phragmites within marsh vegetation, Zone 3 includes installation of supplemental native plantings within approximately 12,400 sqft of mixed invasive and native upland vegetation. The resource areas present include salt marsh, bordering vegetated wetland, land subject to coastal storm flowage and associated buffer zones. Project Activities Completed during Assessment Period January 11, 2024 – Site visit to assess restoration plantings May 30, 2024 – Assessment and treatment of Phragmites September 10, 2024 – Assessment and treatment of Phragmites December 12, 2024 – Site visit to assess restoration plantings and invasive species management Assessment of Current Site Conditions During the field assessment, it was observed that the treatment strategies applied within the project areas have been largely successful. There were minimal amounts of re-sprouting Phragmites observed across all zones, indicating that the control methods applied have been effective in suppressing the growth and spread of this invasive species. Thus, highlighting the importance of follow-up treatments to ensure long-term control of Phragmites within the project areas. Anticipated Activities to be Completed Next Monitoring Period • Continuing maintenance visits to control Phragmites. • Re-seeding areas with poor germination to enhance bank stability.
