Hazardous Materials
Overall Result: Pass
Overall Remarks:
HOUSEKEEPING UNIT- mixing station for cleaners has a manufacturer's plate
for ASSE 1055 B BACKFLOW - also some full-strength products.
MAINTENANCE SHOP-OK-Flammables locker in use for flammables,
combustibles, and aerosols. Latex paints outside of locker.
PAINT BRUSHES-are not cleaned in most cases. If they are it is in a pail of
water with the water absorbed by the trash. Paints brushes should not be
washed in sinks, nor should the water be discharged to the ground.
SAFETY DATA SHEETS (SDS)-were not available for housekeeping products
during the inspection. The pool chemicals had the old-format Material Safety
Data Sheets (MSDS) available. The new format Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for
all toxic or hazardous materials should be obtained and made available to all
employees. Archive the former MSDS.
POOL PUMP ROOM-Dry chemicals are elevated off of the floor on wooden
shelves. The acid is below the dry chemicals so if it leaked it would run onto the
earthen floor and not contact the dry chemicals. The Clorox bleach container
should be put inside a pail as secondary containment and moved away from
the dry materials and the acid.
SHED-Gasoline for power equipment. Fueling is done on an earthen surface.
DUMPSTER AREA-Keep lids closed. No loose trash.
OUTSIDE- No materials outside.
