BOARD OF APPEALS
I am writing in support of the Wilson family and Fresh from the Vine farm whose petition for variance will be heard at
tonight's meeting.
I live in Hudson, New Hampshire and while you may think what happens in the town of Yarmouth, Massuchsetts is none
of my business, the defense and support of agriculture in any state is everyones business, right, and responsibility.
I drive nearly 2 1/2 hours one way to visit this farm. I buy fresh cranberries, take their tour, learn the history of their bogs
on the cape and revel in the beauty. I almost always travel with a group of friends since it's a long drive. We also visit
other businesses while we are in the area, we dine at local restaurants —visitors bring revenue to the town. When I
return home, I make loads of cranberry foods which are shared with family and friends along with the importance of
local foods with their superior flavor and freshness from right here in New England.
I urge all board members to read this email and to also grant the variance requested. Give this family, this farm the
opportunity to succeed. The wastewater treatment plant is of course another issue and should not influence this
variance decision. I believe that an appropriate solution exists for the treatment plant that will not decimate agricultural
land and can allow this farm to thrive while still providing clean water to the town.
Board members hold the livelihood of a family and a needed agricultural business in their hands. Do not squander that
responsibility of past and future generations.
