Yarmouth .xnsnu-m5•evil cnxnrenRxnxal Dear Mr. Grylls, McKenzie Engineering Consultants, Inc. completed an egress inspection of the exterior egress stairways, platforms, and decks for the Swan Pond Village Apartment Complex on Alewife Circle as required by the 9`h edition of the Massachusetts Building Code. We used the site plan showing the locations of the egress systems for the units and documented findings on the plans with the owners representative. All the systems consist of the same wood framed stairs with intermediate wood framed platforms and wood framed decks that are used to access two apartments on the second floor. We reviewed the condition of the framing elements, the connections, and the condition of the railings and wearing surfaces. We identified several locations where repairs or replacement of components was necessary and noted them. The owners representative had their contractor complete the repairs and notified us. We completed a followup site visit to verify the repairs/replacements and found that they had been completed appropriately. Based on the inspection and subsequent repairs, we hereby certify that the exterior egress components at Swan Pond Village are structurally adequate to perform the functions for what they were designed to in accordance with the standards of public safety at the time of original construction and in accordance with Section 1001.3.2 of the 9`h edition of the Massachusetts Building Code.
