HomeMy WebLinkAbout5171 23 Iroquois Blvd Letter of Support 5RECEIVED APR 0 0 2025 BOARD OF GALS To Whom It May Concern: I am a West Yarmouth resident writing to you regarding the zoning issue concerning Jon Tolley. I purchased my property in Yarmouth in 2014, but, sadly, I no longer recognize the town that I wanted to call Dome for years to come. As a native New Englander, I have always loved Cape Cod, and I love all the things that make Cape Cod such a special place to live. Things like cedar -shingled coastal neighborhoods, cranberry bogs, and amazing seafood are all part of what draws people here. Things that do not make Cape Cod feel special include ever-expanding inflatable parks, dollar stores, vacant parking lots, homeless Americans living on the edges of Rt. 28, dilapidated hotels, rampant crime, and residential homes and hotels being converted to transient boarding houses for illegal aliens. But that is what Yarmouth is becoming ... and it's getting worse. This Town has A LOT of problems. Jon Tolley is NOT one of them. Whoever is complaining about him shouldn't be a problem either. It is hard to imagine how anyone who is local to Cape Cod or who appreciates this peninsula could possibly complain about a lobster fisherman selling lobsters from his home for a few short months of the year. What could be more "Cape Cod" than that? Most folks would be proud to tell the story of their neighbor whose family extends back generations as lobstermen. Instead of standing up for the people who build our community and who reflect our history, our Town is cracking down on them. The little guys who have served our community well, who make tourists and locals happy, and who bring character to our corner of the Cape are the ones who find themselves on the defense instead of being the ones who are defended. Please get your priorities straight, Yarmouth. Stand up for your citizens, your community, and the culture that makes us who we are. Once it's lost, it's gone for good. It's slipping quickly. I hope you choose wisely. Thank you, Cheryl Ball 38 Hemeon Drive West Yarmouth True story: I once lived in North Attleboro in a very old neighborhood of Victorian homes. My next -door neighbor Bob had a building on his property that he used as a garage and workshop where he restored old fire engines. Outside, he had beat up old pieces of antique trucks and various other scrap parts. It didn't look very pretty, and someone in my situation might have considered filing a complaint with the Town. But every year on the 0 of July, Bob would open the doors and pull a bright, brass -polished engine out of the garage. Kids from all over Town would gather in his driveway and then hop on the back to head down to the parade. You could hear laughter and joy as Bob sounded the old fire horn and drove off. It brought so many smiles to so many people. The smiles also belonged to me. THAT is what community is about. Just like Jon Tolley.
